Flysmallie Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 It seems implausible to me for a fly fisherman to really compete in a bass tourney. A fly fishing only tourney would be a lot of fun though. Yeah I used to fish a lot of bass tournaments and I can only think of a few times where I would have maybe been okay with a flyrod. But I still would rather have my gear. A fly only bass tournament would be a blast. I think Wrench should host that.

True enough, best scenario would probably be a draw format with 50/50 control of the boat, similar to the old BASS federation qualifier events.

exiledguide Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I started fly fishing as a youngster bass bugging farm ponds. I've never had more fun with a flyrod. Strip mines around Millsat, Belleville, New Athens when I was a young adult made my own Fenwick Rods and tied my own flies.....Couldn't afford to buy them.
