I told my senator what I thought about spliting wildlife control into two groups, one for management and one for vigilante animal control. :yuush:

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I see this as a knee jerk reaction based on fear! Yes if the animals threatening you or destroying your farm animals then yes I can understand shooting it at that point.

Exactly. And that right is already available to citizens. This is not an endangered species or migratory animal.

You'd think we're made out of cat food and gravy and living in kitty bowls the way people get bent out of shape over these animals.

Political yes, partisan, no.

Which party seems to propose more of these ridiculous bills? That would be the Republican party, so yes, it is partisan. One party is for conservation, the other is for control. Take your pick.

My old representative in Illinois was a Republican and had the highest rated conservation voting record in the Illinois delegation...thus I voted for him (and only him because yes, the others in his party didn't measure up).

Plenty of conservatives are good conservationists. They're just not usually the loud ones (although Dave Foreman of Earth First! is a Republican and I guess he would qualify as "loud".)

...and the larger point is that you should argue content without generalizing about groups of people. That's what gets the X.

Email sent.

Eric, you are right. The fact that it is a Republican doesn't shock me either. It was expected. Let the fear take over and go from there seems to be their mantra, however, if they were educated on these animals, they would learn that these cats are worthy of the awe that they inspire. They are not a threat to humans unless confronted, which is so rare in the wild, it would likely never happen. I wish they did some research before wanting to fearmonger something through the legislature.

I don't really care what political party the person who introduced the bill is...A classic case of missing the point. The important thing is to email your senator and tell them what you think about this, no matter what party they belong to.

Let us not make this partisan. This is something everyone who is environmentally minded should care about.

Guys one thing I like about this site is the amount of people who see the right thing and just do it. Let the politicians play the blame game and let us keep doing the right thing. Ive sent my letters as well via E-mail. Politicians dont use the brains god gave the mwe know that... BUT they sure can read and like the nice cushy job and making voters mad doesnt keep it.

I did send an email to a senator out of my state about this bill.

That's good...I bet if everyone who read this thread did the same it just might be able to have a very positive effect.

The legislation has absolutely nothing to do with mountain lions, or protecting Missourians, for that matter. It's just another attempt to usurp MDC's authority, to have our state's resources managed by politicians as opposed to scientists.

There's a lot of this sort of thing floating around this year, hopefully none of it gets any stream. But it is worth keeping an eye on...

Woah, that's one deep conspiracy theory ya got going on there. I love it! :)
