2sheds Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I canoe and wade fish rivers/creeks in tennis shoes (summertime); bleach in mild chlorox when changing creeks. Is this now illegal ? Once back in the creek, I can't imagine how I would prove compliance with the objective.
fishinwrench Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The closed cell foam on some tennis shoes/flip flops could be a technicality, but it would really surprise me if you got hassled about it. My thoughts are that by the time Summer gets here the men behind badges are gonna be pretty tired of walking around looking at peoples feet.
Greasy B Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Now I'm thinking,,,,,,, a pair of chuck's would be a lot cheaper than a pair of Simms His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

Dan Kreher Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I believe this felt sole ban only applies in the state's regulated trout waters -- Trout Parks and those red-white-blue ribbon fisheries as listed on the MDC website. But perhaps you were being facetious.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 PURPOSE: This amendment prohibits the use of porous-soled waders or footwear incorporating or having attached a porous sole of felted, matted or woven fibrous material when fishing in the trout parks. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Mark Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I don't think anyone is being facetious. I would like to know for sure if I am legal in tennis shoes that may have mesh on the side or tongue of the shoe. I'm guessing the mesh anywhere on the shoe could carry didymo just as easily as a felt sole. But then I'm not an aquatic biologists. IF they are only interested in banning FELT SOLE shoewear, great! But mesh would fit the description above as "footwear incorporating wooven fibrous material".
timsfly Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I've never seen a pair of felt bottomed tennis shoes, so unless you have a very special pair, I think you'll make out just fine. And the new rules only apply to trout waters not in warm water creeks, rivers or lakes. And the new rules only apply to trout waters not in warm water creeks, rivers or lakes. But I have seen a pair of river shoes with carpet glued to the soles (for traction).. So the question IS valid. My guess is that an agent with a chip on his shoulder (or one who's been agitated by you for some reason) COULD right a ticket based upon the above verbiage and make it stick. cricket.c21.com
