Gatorjet Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Ya got that right. That's why it's so hard to really figure out where this guy is coming from. He got very defensive, and seemed to be upset about a comment I made about him maybe being a guide trying to dig up some business. I don't think calling somebody a guide is an insult, do you? I haven't seen any pictures of all his great catches either. Walleye, trout, smalies, what ever he says he is so carefully documenting his catches of. Real men go propless!

In my book, referring to someone as a "guide" would be a compliment. Who knows, he may not appreciate what taney has to offer.
Addicted to Creeks Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 maybe because by calling him a guide drumming up business you are essentially calling him a liar? Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. Gatorjet Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 It wasn't intended that way. He mentioned giving people his tips, and secretes in a PM if they asked. Just left everything out there hanging on his posts. I've seen it on other forums when you send a PM you get an advertisement back for a guide service, or a book for sale. I did send him a PM to apologize, but haven't gotten a reply. He's probably PO'ed enough he will just ignore it. Real men go propless!
Addicted to Creeks Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 my original post came off more accusatory then i had intended ironically lol just from what you described i would think thats how he took it Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." Wayne SW/MO Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 The key might be "tourism". Maybe he's just "fishing". Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members mikes custom fly rods Posted February 20, 2012 Members Posted February 20, 2012 I was trout fishing 2 years ago at outlet 1 and on the upper side there was a gentleman had 4 walleye on his stringer about 2 lbs each nice eaters then he hauled in a 4.5lb smallie this was during generation and had been generating. Looks like Taney has potenial for some fun fishing when the trout arnt biting. Mike Mike brune
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Come on guys, haven't you all heard "The Fisherman's Creed "? Early to bed, Early to Rise, Fish like Hell, Make Up Lies. Or: Tie your own knots, bait your own hooks, remove your own fish, Tell Your Own Lies. Maybe the guy in question has heard these and is practicing them. :-) Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction.
