Im throwing ther A-rig on 12lbs Floro and having no problem casting or retrieving. Ive lost a total of 3 rigs, 1 Because i didnt retie enough, 1 because i didnt retie after a long battle with a big fish, and 1 the was so hung up even the lure puller couldnt get it out. I like throwing the light line.

I threw mine for 2 days on 25lb P-line fluoroclear this weekend and didn't have a problem with it. I got snagged several times and managed to pull it off each time, never retied and the knot and line was still strong by the end of Monday. Wish I could say I caught a lot of fish on it but I did catch my very first meanmouth I believe, a keeper at that.

Threw mine on 30# flurobraid (Spiderwire)...I would say it was about 3/4oz? Maybe a little more? I used very light jig heads.

I have heard people are breaking 65# braid. So they are using 80# instead.

I have always used a trilene knot for both mono and fluoro and have never had issues. The trilene knot is the same as a clinch knot except the extra pass through the eye on the hook/lure/bait/etc. Whats the best knot for braid? Thinking of switching over to the fishin' fool knot on everything but would like some opinions first.

Single Uni Knot is pretty simple, double gives me fits in the wind. There was an earlier thread on knots that had some info on the fool knot. Guess it is a doubled line uni?

I have some 80# powerpro for grass lakes in the summer, like fishing with steel cable. Must be something going on with their 65# to make it break...cut, kink, knot, etc. Hard to do on a straight pull.

Just be sure to test your knot before casting, I was trying a couple different swim baits Sunday from shore just to see how they ran and snagged a rock I should have been able to pull off of, but my uni knot slipped. Losing an A-rig and 5 baits hurts when you aren't really fishing. It was not the type of knot that failed just my hap hazard way of tying.

A good way to test your knots is a wooden dowel and a truck bumper or trailer hitch.

I wish people would use the line they are used to, I used to find Braid deals everywhere I turned. I was buying braid for $4 before everyone started buying A-rigs now it is the last thing on sale. Glad I stocked up before that FLW show aired.

I think I will stick with the 15 lb. Seaguar. If I break that then it was meant to be. 15 lb. Seaguar is pretty tough stuff and easier on the equipment and me, and it last all year as well. Just needs a little strechin here and there.

I've been using power pro for a lot of years. Moved back to Mo. 1 year ago previous to that spent last 10 years in panama city beach,fl. . Ran a boat offshore fishing for the past 5 years. Used braid quite a lot 10lb to 80 lb.. Couple of things you should

do. Number 1 lighten your drag at least by 1/3 or more. number 2 the stuff you use to take curl out of mono works great on braid and will make it alot easier to throw. Number 3 you can,t beat a uni-knot on the braid. Having said all that have been catching a lot of good bass on the A-rig using 30 lb power pro moss green but i do prefer the hi-vis yellow. It doesn,t appear to bother the fish but I do tip my 10 lb with fluro.
