straw hat Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Managed to catch 2 channels today on Stockton. Water temp was 45. They were 16' deep in a tributary channel. It won't be long now unti they start picking up!!
Kayser Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Caught a fat and sassy 4lb channel fishing for crappie yesterday. Was using a white/sparkle woolly bugger in about 3-4ft of water in a local pond. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Smalliebigs Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 We caught 5 Blues in two hours on the Meramec below HWY 30 bridge about a mile or so and were in the deepest part of the channel there. We found a trench that went from 8 feet to 16 and had a little debri in it. We anchored up stream about 30 yards and thru some cut skippys at them and they came running. The biggest was only 14lbs but, that tells me they are moving up from the Mississippi already.....pre/spwan......eventhough the MDC says they don't do that in the Meramec......lol
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 ONLY 14 pounds? I know there are some monsters in the Mec, but 14lb cat, for me is something to brag about. Just getting out of off the banks this year, maybe this boy will become a man.... ...... Getting excited like a 10 year old who gets his first bb gun. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)

Daryk Campbell Sr Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Thank you for the invite, I may just take you up on that. I live in Festus, Grew up in South St Louis, and work in Affton. I have seen the products of the rivers, but have not gotten the pleasure of hooking up the bigguns. Daryk, seriously we can meet at George Winter and hit the Meramec, I know about three good areas that hold decent fish or if you want to really go for it we can go to Columbia Bottoms ramp on the Missouri and then we have all kinds of oppurtunities.....we just need to net up some Skipjack herring and we are good to go. I truly love to chase the big cats and most of my "bass" fishing buddies don't seem to have developed a taste for the cats????? it's there loss. I have a 19 1/2 foot SeaArk with a 110 hp Suzuki on the back sitting in the garge that was made for chasing cats on big rivers....let me know, I'm serious I love fishing with new people I always learn something. I live in the Kirkwood area and one of my best friends lives off of HWY P just west of HWY A on the Joachim Creek and my uncle lives in Festus as well....right by the catholic high school....St.Pius I think???? anyway small world.....let me know ahead of time if you ever want to reel in something over 25 lbs.
