Wayne SW/MO Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I saw a Serviceberry in bloom today, but for some reason the patch that is generally first hasn't bloomed. Drought effect maybe? My Dogwoods don't seem to be that close yet. I don't know that they matter in a year like this because I think the whites are controlled by water temps and the plants by ground temps and light. Some of my trees and roses have been leafing out for a week or two now and that is eeeaarly. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 What the hell is a Serviceberry? That's a new one on me.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Thats those little trees that are usually in a bunch and they bloom about a week before the dogwoods Where dogwoods are generally in singles back in the woods, serviceberrys seem to come in bunches. If it wern't for the fact that I have several dogwoods here, I would probably pass them of as dogwoods. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
duckydoty Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Fished from Taylor Shoals all the way down to Long Camp or the old 3 dollar holler today and not a white to be seen. They were way down below the area we fished today. Ran into a fella that had a bunch of them. He braved the white caps and wind further down below where we were fishing and faired well. It'll be another month for us up here probably, providing we ever get any rain.
Seth Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Just curious but what kind of baits are you guys throwing for the whites and are you casting or trolling? My dad and I are coming down next week and staying at Flatcreek so just wondering if I need to stock up on a certain kind of bait before our trip.
duckydoty Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 The guys I ran into yesterday that faired well were throwing the A rig just above Flat Creek. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
