I wasn't aware I needed an "outfitter's" permit. Should have guessed, though, with the way the world has become. I talk about fishing here, and I will do float-fishing trips, but I'm promoting primarily to and specializing in guiding the elderly and physically challenged on regular floats. I'm not trying to make a living from this, just suplimenting my SS and trying to help physically challenged people enjoy a float trip in a big, comfortable and safe canoe. Don't expect to even make very many trips on the Current River, but mostly on the Black. But at one of the assisted living places I visited last year when considering this, most of the residents said one of the things on their bucket list was to float the Current River. That's really the only reason I included it.

I found, printed, filled out and will later mail the initial application. It doesn't mention any fee. That, I suppose, will be included in an "application packet" to follow. Since I doubt I'll clear over a couple thousand bucks a year from floating the Current, if the fee or requirements are very stringent, I'll just forget about it. Besides, the Current is about 60 miles away, and if the gas prices go up much more, it my not be worth the effort in my old gas-guzzling truck.

Regardless AW's motives, I'm glad to know about this.

Just didnt want you to get in any trouble there bro...

Never could understand people that think there's no place for a dog on a fishing trip.

I know a dog that would disagree with you, he hates water, even rain.

A well behaved dog is great on a fishing trip. I have a Siberian Husky that is probably the best dog I have ever owned. I would love to take him with me on trips. Unfortunately, if they get off a leash they just want to run for miles on end. I take him out to lakes when I am just messing around and can keep him close.

Thinking about taking the German Shepard with me on a few trips this next year. He needs a bit more training around other people and is only 2.... so he will need to calm down before I would consider it. He is 115 lb's so he might be a bit a large for a canoe as well.

He's a big dog, but I have a big canoe.

He's your counterweight. :secret-laugh:

Was out wading the West and Middle forks of the Black again today with the only fishing buddy that doesn't give me lip. He thinks I fish just for him, and when I catch a small panfish or chub, I toss it near him to chase. He rarely ever catches one, but takes it very seriously, going all the way under the water after them sometimes.

What an awesome dog!!! I have a german short hair named Bruno that I would love to take on the river, but he gets a little spacey sometimes and I worry he might take off.

Like Mitch said though, there is nothing better than a dog. They never judge you and always love you.

How'd you do on the Black the other day? Can't wait to get down there for my annual vacation with Smalliebigs at the end of June.
