Seems as though the Taxedermist might be a great place to hang out and wait for poachers

pretty extensive criminal network that was very well established that was finally breached and busted. Makes you kind of wonder how something that clearly widespread was allowed to grow to such a proportion before something was done. Great job that they busted those scumbags though. Dissappointing to read that 97 cases were allowed to plea out. Weak sauce. let them plea out, but chop their hands off as punishment.

Mail to the prosecutor, and to the reporter who wrote the story, and to the reporter's boss, particularly if it said you would try to make a trip down there and spend some money in a county that supports such prosecutions, and such reporting, might be a real good thing.

Mostly the prosecutor may care about the local voters, and the reporter care about her boss and her readers, but some discretionary income flowing into places like Oregon County could certainly be appreciated and might result in other prosecutions, there or nearby.

I cant seem to find email on the PA, but I did find

Where I come from fish and wildlife are king, everyone knew the local MDC agent ("game warden" back then) and a poacher was THE LOWEST OF THE LOW. You could drink and smoke, drive too fast, cuss, and, okay, on occasion shoot your .22 at something you shouldn't. But poaching was just OFF LIMITS. We knew a few guys with reputations as poachers and they were bad news and unwelcome.

That's why I have such a hard time believing that bass gigging on the Meramec has become such a problem. I still think it's just a few bad apples, but maybe times have changed. Then you read a story like this and you start wondering if poaching at least in some circles is "the norm." If so it's pretty sick and twisted.
