Justin Spencer Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Just tried her out, and I'm impressed. Threw a streamer standing up, got 2 chases but no hook ups. Amy got out in it and she was able to stand also with no trouble. Paddled the dog around a little, no problem with a 40 pound Boykin on board, a lab probably would fit, but would be pushing it a little. My favorite thing about it is with the seat in the up position you sit nearly as high a a canoe (and are just as stable). Sitting low in a kayak is why I have always been a canoe man, but I will now take these over a canoe on a day trip. There is also enough room for storage that an overnight trip could be done, but you wouldn't be camping in quite the style that Gavin does! stlfisher Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Those Coosa look great...gonna have to get me one at some point. Did they rock a bunch when fly casting from them? Gavin that picture on the bottom right is way cool...

Not much, guess it depends on how you think your balance is, I've never had trouble standing in a canoe. I was able to cast also sitting in the elevated seat for those who don't feel comfortable standing. Stoneroller Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 there is currently a thread in this forum with footage of me going down the St Francis river in my Coosa. Standing up in class 3, although it might be feasible to some extent, depending on the feature, would be ill advised. even with a helmet, a faceplant onto rocks or worse a log with pointy sticks on it, would spell the end of the 'hey ya'll! watch this!' moment. http://www.youtube.com/user/fishonkayakadventure?feature=mhee but here is the link if you don't want to look for the other thread. ColdWaterFshr Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 The "dude" needs to turn down the Miles Davis and smoke less gonja imagining class III rapids that struggles . . . struggles mightily to reach class II in any of the clips, and he inhaled a little too deeply at 7:35 and most definitely at around 9:12 in this particular clip. I thought I heard a cough and and a painful exhale. Thanks for the link and laughs, dude. I got a bad case of the coosa now fo sho!
gotmuddy Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 what does it cost to rent a coosa? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Justin Spencer Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 $35, but for those on the forum who come down and want to rent 2, or any other rental to go with it I'll rent it to you for the low, low price of $30 from now until May (just remind me when you come down). ness Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 How is that Coosa going upstream in a little current, Justin? John
Justin Spencer Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Better than I thought, really tracks pretty good for as wide as it is. I got within about 15 feet of going down the riffle in front of our house and had no trouble getting back up to the ramp in moderate current, I really thought that might be one of the downfalls of this kayak, but pleasantly surprised.
