Mark Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 One time on a river a group of us were camping and fishing off the bank. Some jet dork came right up to where I was fishing, shut down his motor, and started fishing right were I was fishing in front of our camp. So I put down my rod, took a full run from the bank and dove in right where he was fishing. I splashed around, hooted and hollared about how good the water felt, made as much noise as I could, and he got the hint and left. It was hilarious.

I thought I was cantankerous by sometimes tying on a great big popper and working it right around someone's boat who's invading my territory, but I like that one even better!
Feathers and Fins Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I use to enjoy fishing the piers, But it always seemed some boater would come and crowd the pier. Law said 100 yard away. Story 1 guy crowded the pier in a wide open Kingfish bite. Now it wasnt the first bost to do it but the others obviously came in while fighting a fish and they were pretty cool about backing out fast heck even a couple came in and took people lines out to the bigger kings. But this one *^&(^(^& came in repeatedly and started cussing at people when they told him to leave. After about the 4th time the end of the pier was lined with 8oz torpedo sinkers. His next trip in cost him dearly as all of the sudden some 20 people were casting the sinkers out at the same time so they could send a trolley line bait down. Some of those guys were lousy accuracy casters because they hit his boat. Now Mr Mouth decided to beach his boat and walk up on the pier to confront a few of the gentlemen. Rule #1 Do not CONFRONT and Ockeechobee Cracker boy that out weighs you by 200pnds. Rule #2 Dont Cuss around the Cracker Boys kids and wife it will never end well. Rule #3 his 20 witness's that you attacked him out weigh your word to the officer. Event #2 same pier same type of jerk. This time they decided to start at the beach and run the full horshoe of the pier grabbing everyones line... Problem was after numerous weeks of complaints the Game and Fish and Sherriff's were there. Now Florida's sheriff and game and fish boats are FAST. We all watched the guys get the braclets and come to find out confinscation of boat and all gear plus the fines and the drivers 90 days. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
riverfish Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 when i was a kid we used to do alot of trot lining for a 16 ft flat bottom boat with my dad and uncle, well we spend most of our time in the upper rivers catching catfish. and sea doo's and ski boats would come within 20 feet of us making waves and tearing up the water. i don't know how many of you have ever been up the river in a 16ft flat bottom but it dont take much of a wave/roller to come over the side of the boat especially in the upper reaches of the rivers. anyway we always tied three sinker rocks on our trot lines needless to say uncle steve was kinda hot tempered in his younger days especially when us young kids were in the boat i cant count how many ski boats were hit with pound and a half rocks they always managed to find their way back to the big water to do their playing. i now have moved on to prefer to bass fish more and have one of those larger boats with a 150 on it i know what its like to be the "little guy" and i always use the utmost concideration when up that far i dont crowd and up that far i always idle b/c i been right where that guy is
rainbow Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 When you get into the whites and hybrids on Truman boats will come in and crowd you. If they don't crowd me I will invite them to fish the area especially if I have hammered them. I had two guys come up one time and actually ask if they couldl fish the area I was in which was loaded with whites. I had no problem with that.
Addicted to Creeks Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 i have long since moved past expecting manners from 80% percent of the people i meet. that's on or off the water. Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner

WakenLake Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 If i would have landed a fish or a big dady bass would hit my minnow i would have been tied up in three lines. Im usually the guy who will keep his cool but it makes me REALLY mad. www.jordanvalleyautorepair.com
