Mitch f Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 These seem to be great replacement trebles, the short shanks don't interfere with each other. This might even let you use a bigger size than the lure came with. Plus you can buy them at any Walmart. The 4.3 technology refers to the ratio of point length to wire diameter. Tests have shown that this produces the optimum stay sharp ratio. Some of the chemically sharpened hooks loose their point after a couple of fish or snags. MOsmallies Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Agreed... Just replaced most my trebles this winter with these and they seem to be very sharp and strong. I've been throwing soft plastics lately so I haven't put them to the test yet but I expect them to excel after all the great reviews I've read.
rps Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Haven't tried them, but everything needed seems to be there. A lighter alternative remains the Daiichi Death Traps. You can fish them three weeks and still stick yourself way too easy.

Up to the last 3 years or so I've always been under the impression that light wire hooks penetrate better than heavier wire hooks. I've recently changed my mind and feel the heavy wire hooks penetrate better for the same sharpness, because of the flex of a light wire. gotmuddy Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I have been using those trebles for two or three years with great success. I cant wait for the trokar trebles to come out though. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I think I'd be scared to use Trokar trebles. Those things are dangerously sharp and just thinking of having six of those flying at you on a crank that's been spit from a fish is frightening. I foresee a lot of those being cut from fishermens skin. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I don't have any handy to give the particulers, but the ones Bill Babler uses are first rate. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Jerry Rapp Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 best aadvice on hooks. Just sharpen them. Go ahead and spend some bucks on replacement hooks if you wish. The hook replacement thing is just catching fishermen.
Mitch f Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 best aadvice on hooks. Just sharpen them. Go ahead and spend some bucks on replacement hooks if you wish. The hook replacement thing is just catching fishermen. Some truth to that, but I'm not good enough to sharpen them correctly. I'll sharpen a worm hook but not trebles, unless it's a musky size lure. Lost enough big fish that now I'm a hook snob I guess. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
