I reread the book last year on the plane to Dominican Rep. in anticipation of doing a little fishing down there. Must see/read for any fisherman.

Turned out to be good luck, our boat got into the dorado pretty good. Those of us that weren't puking had a pretty good time.

I use the book as a read aloud for my eighth grade Language Arts class.Every year, their skepticism and derision about an old book that has only an old man and a fish is very loud. And every year that changes.

Maybe I will look for the book.... Thanks for the tip.

So good to hear! Like CGI in movies, special effects can't overcome bad writing! kids these days don't get the goods anymore unless someone like you presents it to them....good job!

Randy you should make them listen to some of the old Burns and Allen and Lone Ranger then make them do a report on it. I had a Teacher that introduced us to those old shows and We as a Class loved it. You had to mentally picture what was happening and when Mrs Klug made us do our report the instruction was to describe whate we saw in our heads. Man I miss those old shows where you could let your mind draw the movie in it.

It's a great book and you can knock it out in a few hours. I love everything Hemingway...that guy was a complete nutjob.

I'm with ya, Hemingway sure had a cool way about him
