Doing a two day float on the Buffalo River in Arkansas the week of June 11th. Would appreciate any advice from others who have fished the river. Interested in your experience and the type of lures, colors, line size, etc. We are experienced smallmouth river fisherman and mostly fish small Missouri rivers. We will also do a one day float on Crooked Creek. Thanks.

the water is almost gone in the river . the lower end near yelleville hwy 14 to rush would be the best bet for a floating trip. buffalofloat service, or wild bills would be the outfitters down that way........ hope it helps ?

It will be a bit early for hoppers on the fly but that is my main deal. Chug bugs, or small pop r s are good. (Guess I like topwater) Have had good sucess with the small hula type grubs also, usually watermelon pumpin seed or watermelon with red flake.

Thanks for the inputs. Got a call today and the overnight trip on the Buffalo is out. The river is too low for the boat with the camping gear, etc. Still plan on doing two one day floats on the Buffalo and a one day float/wade on Crooked Creek. Looking forward to comparing a "blue ribbon" smallmouth river to the Meramec Basin I fish in Missouri. Will post a report after the trip the week of June 11th.

Float from Rush down to buffalo city. A riverboat can still get down it with minimal dragging.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

While the Buffalo is a very special river, no special baits or special techniques needed. For the most part, what works on other Ozark creeks/ and rivers will work on the Buffalo.
