stlfisher Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I must be lucky in that I have never encountered one of the "vacation salesmen" you guys are talkinga about. I am actually suprised Bass Pro allow's that in the store. Must be some nice kickbacks. The only thing I have encountered lately is the window people at a gas station in chesterfield that offer to inspect and then clean your windows and then try to sell you on...I guess new windows. I never let them get far before I cut them off. Usually pisses of the pretty gals the most. You telling me no? Yep, babe now go find your sugar daddy.
exiledguide Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Same as Robert Johnson, only to paint. Actualy Chief, I watched O Brother the other night on TV and the movie had notes at the bottom of the screen and stated that Robert Johnson did not sell his soul but an earlier blues singer Tommy Johnson did. Having no dealings with the devil and being pure of heart I can't verify this........but.....
exiledguide Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 When I was a kid we would make the journey form Florissant to Northwest plaza to see what was then the largest mall in the world. My how times change!...and so has Florissant! Also our father used to take my brother and I to Wamser Ferman sporting goods store on Manchester road, which seemed like an enternity to get there. He bought us matching Plano tackle boxes (plastic worm welders) and a zebco reel on I believe a shakespeare fiberglass rod. We always wathced the Virgil Ward show and filled our boxes full of beetle spins and Creme purple worms, sinkers, gold aberdeen Eagle Claw hooks, and so on. Our next door neighbor was an avid bass fisherman who actually was the guy who got me hooked on bass fishing. We went to a local carp lake called "Rock Lake" near Missouri Bottom Road (which is now where I-370 runs thru) with my nieghbor and his family. The neighbor rigged up my line with a creme worm and told me to just throw it out and reel it slowly back in. He went about 100 yards away and started fishing. About the 10th cast a 3 lb bass hit about 5 feet from the shore just as I was ready to lift my rod to make another cast. The splashing and the look of total disbelief on my face caused everyone within 50 yards to rush over to come to my aid. The nieighbor was the first on the scene and kept repeating "I told Ya, I told Ya!" All of this made me start crying and couldn't stop for 2 minutes. Been hooked ever since! Wow you bring back old memories Rock Lake, Wamser Ferman Shakessphere Presidential rods Zebco 33 reel.....You left out Mepps Spinners, Brown Bombers, Hula Poppers and Lazy Ikes.....The only problem was getting to Rock Lake you had to navigate past the "Pines" and even worse it was still there on the way home......with the neon light lureing you into........

ness Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Man, O Brother is a quality flick. And, Mitch, No Country is too. Love them Cohen brothers. As for RJ -- the blues guys are pretty famous for making a story, even a legend, out of nothing. That's a pretty good one right there. John

hfdhoosier Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Yes, Johnny Morris owns Big Cedar in partner with Bluegreen timeshares, they have built a new resort called Paradise point close to Big Cedar also. I am a Bluegreen Timeshare member, I bought into the timeshare in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I enjoy the timeshare, its a point based plan which allows you to stay at multiple resorts around the country at any time you want based on vacancy. I bought my points off ebay for little of nothing, bluegreen charges about $2 a point and I was able to get 10,000 points for $152 off ebay. I have never ran into a rude salesman but when I tell them I am already a bluegreen member they say they cant help me out. moral of the story is, tell them you are a bluegreen member and they will immediately leave you alone. Its a shame that some of the salespeople pressure people the way you all have stated. I know the sales represenatives at the resorts work on commission, so i am assuming the ones at BPS do also. The salesman at Big Cedar told us that the statistics show 90% of the people coming into the timeshare sales pitch are dead set not to buy into the timeshare but with sales pressure 60% end up buying in. I am sorry to hear some of you had to put up with uncalled for sales tactics. Dennis Eat, Fish, Sleep,....Repeat Member: ozarkflyfishers http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/
Iclass Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Had Jehovah Witnesses come by our house one afternoon while we were elbow deep in cleaning deer.... I guess the site of 3 grown men holding large knifes covered in blood was too much for them, they left and never came back.
