Justin Spencer Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 I'm not saying the bill going to fix health care in this country. I think it is a starting point. For some reason those opposed don't want to think of ways to fix it they just want to throw out the whole thing and then make outragous statements like "wait till you are paying 10x's that amount for goods and services in the future because of it". That's just plan stupid "fox news" talk there. I will say again that the reason I won't vote for anyone who says they will repeal obamacare immdiately is because I personally cannot risk my wife not having coverage again due to a pre-existing condition. This may be extremely selfish on my part, but it is what it is. If the politicians that are so against the bill would say instead that they will keep that aspect of the bill instead of starting over then I would have reason to listen to them, until then I guess I don't and I hope you can understand that. Feathers and Fins Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Justin I fully understand you and agree with you on the pre-existing part. Unfortunately the rest of the law is terrible and is going to cost us dearly, I am no fox fan but i did read the bill and I had a hard time understanding much of it and I do have a couple college degree's. I guess part of it with me is having one prof that use to say if you arew going to write a paper the average person must be able to read it understand it all in 5 minutes and you should be able to explain it to anyone in 30 seconds. This thing is a monster and no way anyone understands it. I dont see any way to get around repealing it in its whole forum and start over and keep it simple. Maybe repeal it an enact probably the best part of it in the pre-existing clause. Man if they would haveonly made a law on that things would be better for many but instead they created something that is going to harm the people in the pocket books. Read it you are a smart man and see if you agree with it then. You will probably be scratching your head like i was and seeing how much bad it has the potential for. Just a ps i dont think even the media as read it or they would have been afraid too. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Jack Jones Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 For those who hate Canadian healthcare...read this....http://ayoungmomsmusings.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-i-lost-my-fear-of-universal-health.html Most folks I've met from Canada, both Nova Scotia and Toronto love their healthcare. They acknowledge its faults, but day to day it's not too bad. As for the British system, if you truly analyze it, you will see that the Conservative government in the UK has killed it with their austerity measures and that is one of the reasons it is having so much trouble at this time. Bottom line....something is better than nothing. My wife's mother died back in the early ninety's from cancer that wasn't caught early enough mainly because as a suddenly widowed woman raising three children on poverty wages she couldn't afford to get regular checkups and preventative care. This bill would have helped. It would help me. And it will help many millions of people. If one of the Republicans wants to put forth an alternative plan or method, I'm willing to review it. However, they haven't and until they do, I'll stick with this starting point and improve it over time. Wayne SW/MO Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 My experience, spending the winter with Canadians, and being in long term contact with a couple we consider good friends says otherwise Jack. The cancer survival rates are highest in the US and with or without insurance there is no effort to catch cancers. No doubt it might have helped your MIL, but you can't apply her experience to the population. I lost my dad, my sister and a grandmother to cancer, all had insurance and one was on Medicare. Jerry Rapp Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 everyone, I think agrees, health care needs to be reformed. But Obama Care is not the answer. When the speaker of the house at the time said, "we will just have to pass it to see what's in it", anyone with common sense should have seen MANY RED flags. And now we find out that will be taxes on home sales to help fund it. What other hidden taxes are in it. No one on this forum has ever read the entire 2000+ bill. And yet some think it is o.k. I just shake my head in amazement. I blame republicans as much as democrats. The republicans should have read it word for word as soon as they got their hands on it and started the bashing the next day. I myself, will find it very hard to vote for any incumbent. Until we get elected officials who truly represent you and me, this crap will continue. I would vote for a one term limit for every elected person in a flash. Let's don't even get started on a balanced budget..............

Feathers and Fins Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 If politicians could sit down and discuss things the way we have on this thread things might get done for the better of this country. You do not need to agree on all points but you can find the good ones and disguard the non-agreeable ones to come to simple laws that are benificial. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
