Haris122 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Cool pic. Somebody get the pliers! Just how much of a task was it to unhook that monster without getting gashes and cuts from the snout just shaking around in that last bit of effort to free itself?
Gavin Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Not bad at all...it was pretty well whooped after about 3-4 minutes,,,and it rolled and lassoed its snout closed in the process....One yank on that jig with my pliers broke the line and got my jig back. The first 6-8" of leader was badly abraided. I'd recommend gloves, pliers, and something to jack their jaws open if you want to chase them deliberately.
jdmidwest Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Boga type grips work good. My buddies know why I have a pair on my boat or on my person at all times when fishing for toothy fish. I had a buddy "lip" a walleye not knowing what he had on the end of his line. Cut him up good. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
