drew03cmc Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Mizzou, 7-5, bowl berth against a Big 12 team. I cannot wait to see Georgia get shocked in Columbia on September 7th. We have a few tough games, and will every year from here out. Andy
Al Agnew Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Everybody seems to think the SEC is just lights out better than every other conference. But based on what? The top couple of SEC teams have arguably been the best teams in the country the last couple of years (I say arguably because they played each other for the national championship last season instead of playing the best team in the Big 12). The middle tier SEC teams are probably equal to middle tier Big 12 teams, and the lower tier SEC teams are certainly no better than the lower tier Big 12 teams. Mizzou has been a high middle to low upper tier Big 12 team. They are going to be no worse than a middle tier SEC team. Mizzou has skill offensive starters as good or better than anybody in the SEC. Their starting O line will hold it's own. Their defense will be good, not great, and the secondary will again be a problem. But the biggest difference between Mizzou and the upper tier SEC teams is depth. A few injuries to key players and Mizzou will be in trouble. If they don't have the key injuries, I'm guessing an 8-4 record. If they have a bunch of early injuries...4-8.

Justin Spencer Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Franklin is the QB again this year? They won't be that good... Same as last years. How'd your post change before my eyes, now my answer makes no sense. Heh heh, forgot he was a sophmore last year and edited my post real quick...Also remembered there was a year in-between there that Gabbert wasn't there... -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
ruthead Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Give us a couple years and we'll be just fine. Tired of beatin the "Stinkbirds" anyways. Lookin forward to establishing the rivalry with the "Hogs" M I Z.....Z O U !! "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
Al Agnew Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Last year Franklin had stats a little better than either Gabbert or Daniel in their first full year as the starter. As long as his shoulder is good and he doesn't get further dinged up, he'll be just as good or better than they were. And reports from camp are that his shoulder is fine and he's making every throw.
MOsmallies Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 8-4.....wow you must have love the Black and Gold Kool-aid???? lol....just kidding. their non confrence schedule is way harder than it normally is so I will say 6-6 if they have no injuries, which is just about impossible.....so realisticly speaking 5-7. Now, Basketball will be a different story....Mizzou has a squad with some transfers that will be one hell of a team. Mizzou and Kentucky will dominate the SEC on the hardwoods this year but, football well....Gary and his crew are going to get killed.....not enough size and a very gimick laced offense with little or no speed at the point of attack is going to just kill them in the SEC. Bottom line is Mizzou's football coaching sucks, their offensive cordinator is weak at best and Gary is really just a figure head that recruits. The future of the program is in dire straits if they can't recruit the best in the country and seal the borders of Missouri of D1 football talent, which there is quite a bit of here, but they haven't been able to do it in the past so time will tell. They can't let all the D1 killer talent in the St.Louis area go to other schools.....Gary is seriously lacking in keeping home grown heros in Missouri. I agree with you to an extent that we lose a lot of great in state talent to out of state schools, but you can't discount the fact that Mizzou just landed DGB who was not only the top recruit in the state, but the top recruit in the country. Imagine if they could have landed Montee Ball a few years ago! I think 8-4 is definitely possible, but 7-5 is more realistic in their first year. Being in the SEC will only help their recruiting in the future. Speaking of recruiting and landing in state talent... Could you imagine how good Mizzou Basketball could have been over the past 10-15 years if they could have landed these players... Larry Hughes Chris Carawell Loren Woods Ryan Robertson David Lee Tyler Hansbrough Ben Hansbrough Alec Burks Bradley Beal BJ Young Cameron Biedscheid
stlfisher Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 The recruting has already picked up for Mizzou. I think we can score enough, but I worry our defense won't be abel to stop anyone. Franklin is good duel threat QB IMO...and was rated as one of the better QB's in the SEC going into this year. He will be fine...if we can keep him from getting pummeled. We have to get better lineman on both sides of the ball....that has me a bit worried.

Larry Hughes Chris Carawell Loren Woods Ryan Robertson David Lee Tyler Hansbrough Ben Hansbrough Alec Burks Bradley Beal BJ Young Cameron Biedscheid I'm with ya brotha....and you're just talking about basketball recruits. The guys on here that think Missouri's offense is as fast as the SEC's defenses just have not seen many SEC games. It's time to seal the borders of Missouri of D-1 talent, I hope Missouri's entry to the SEC will help them do that, we will see. Um RIVERRAT, DGB was born in St.Louis in a project to looser parents and adopted by his football coach where he played....sounds goofy to me but whatever. I think thats considered a St.Louis recruit. Time will tell....but, Mizzou is not going to have a fun time on the gridiron for a few years until they get some real recruits in there.DGB is a good start but one receiver does not make a team on both sides of the ball. Missouri has never done well in St.Louis and Gary has basicly ignored it like an ignorant fool......things change though. I was a d-1 baseball recruit in 1988 and ened up going to Tulane, back then Missouri's baseball team was a club team with no affiliation to the NCAA.....now Missouri has a decent d-1 team.....so things change. RIVERRAT I am a big Mizzou fan but, I just think Gary Pinkle is a D-2 coach and his staff resembles that as well. With Missouri moving into a real confrence they should have considered making a splash with a legit coach as well.........sorry if that pisses you off but, Mizzou is a non pro offense that is nothing but a gimmick.
