Twice a day for the last 6 years I have been looking at the Big Muddy (Missouri River big muddy) as I cross it. I believe the canoes and kayaks out number the barge tows. If your experienced, competent and respectful paddle craft work fine.

Big Muddy River is a river dammed up in Illinois to create Rend Lake, that flows into the Mississippi WAY below St. Louis. The MO River is big, and definitely muddy, as is the MS River below the MO/MS confluence. Did anyone else get lost when people started using nicknames instead of the proper ones?

WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk.

Hey what did you use to catch the bowfin? Also I fished at Columbia bottom off of a dam and caught sturgeon, drum, small catfish, and Asian carp.

He's not fishing the Mississippi...he's fishing in the Big Muddy River, which is the river that forms Rend Lake in Illinois...

I believe the Missouri has been called the Big Muddy for more years than anyone on here can remember. To most people in Missouri that would be the river in question.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Yeah, what fun. Just goes to show that communication is not so simple after all.

I think all the Big Muddy's are worthy destinations.
