My wife saw that video on Yahoo news, she said that 5 people were hospitalized due to the event.

Just another d-bag with a big expensive toy. These are the kind of folks that ruined the lakes. When I grew up there were some speed boats, but now they're just more powerful and everywhere on the water. Sadly, these fools don't seem to realize how easy it is to lose control.

The clip shown on CNN.com show a little aftermath. The younger gal is checking out to see if her front teeth are still intact. The driver is still on the floor and everyone looks dazed. Looks like a lot of other boats saw it happen and were coming over to assist.

Read one post that boater was going to be charged by water patrol. reckless operation and after they saw video seating violation of some sort.

There's no "seating law" other than you have to be between the gunnels. Hell the driver doesn't even have to "sit".

There was no evidence of laws broken in that video, so any charges filed using it are just lawyer food.

I believe the occupants (at least some of them) were from the Lake Media crew. At least they are the ones claiming to own the video

Wrench, they wrote him for the guy riding on the swim platform while above idle speed, No railings. While it might be common, it is not only stupid it is a violation as well!

In the video it looked to me like everyone was inside the boat. I didn't notice anyone riding that out on the swim deck, but yeah, if he was he's a flipping idiot.

Pretty cool that there is water here that's rough enough to crash an off-shore boat if you make a mistake at the helm, yet with some common sense you can navigate it in a 16' jon boat.
