David Unnerstall Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 We all know the guy in front should catch more fish because he is fishing water before the guy in back but I wonder exactly how much is the advantage?
fishinwrench Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Alot depends on what kinda bite you're on. If your pitching shallow dense cover and the guy running the TM is making a bunch of racket or otherwise not controlling the boat well then BOTH are at a disadvantage. But if you are slinging C-rigs or crankbaits / topwater stuff on points, or vertically fishing spoons ect. then the angler in the rear may have an advantage because he only has to concentrate on catching fish. That being said, I'll admit that it drives me nuts to fish the back.....I'm always wishing that the boat angle was different.
Kelroy Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 A lot of it depends on the attitude of the guy in front! If they don't want you to catch anything, they can sure make it tough. Looking at scores from different tournaments (where 'anglers' and 'co-anglers' had their own divisions) it seems the front end out-catches the back end by about 3-to-1. It's uncommon to see anglers and co-anglers competing in the same category.
