Dear State Park Campers,

Fall is a great time to go camping and Missouri State Parks is making your next camping trip even more convenient. In 12 of our state parks, showerhouses will remain open past the traditional closing date of Oct. 31 for this year. State parks that will be keeping their showerhouses open include Bennett Spring, Johnson's Shut-Ins, Knob Noster, Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Wappapello, Long Branch, Onondaga Cave, Roaring River, St. Joe, Table Rock, Harry S Truman and Weston Bend state parks.

For a complete list of which showerhouses in these parks will be open this year and for how long, go to mostateparks.com. These dates are all weather dependent so please remember to check the website before planning your fall camping trip.

Take advantage of the great weather to invite your family and friends on a memorable fall camping trip in a Missouri state park.

Still have my showerhouse going here, looks like it will be the latest I have ever let it go also. Getting tired of cleaning bathrooms!

I really don't know why they have to close them at all since most are heated. The unheated ones have to be drained. That was something that I could not understand at Montauk, keep at least one open for the entire season. It would probably pay for itself in increased camping. Of course, they would sell less motel rooms if they did that.

It's not the lack of being able to take a shower everyday that keeps Me from camping more in the Winter, it's the short days and long cold nights. If they'd fix THAT I'd be there.

I would bet it has more to do paying for cleaning. There isn't enough traffic to pay for itself.
