That's true Chief. In fact, it may increase it because the artificial sweeteners are shown to increase cravings for sweets.

The school systems, specificly the R-7 district have been seeing increases in revenue recently and it has done nothing for the students map scores.

YEAH, that's where I went!

For real though, Cigarrettes are not a necessity, they are a commodity and in my decision the tax hike should have passed. Having my undergrad in Exercise Science, I know how much better quality of life a person can live if they live an active, smoke free lifestyle.. Literally NOTHING good comes out of smoking nothing at all.

Also, regarding the soda ban? I know the Childrens Mercy up in KCMO just banned soda in the hospital.. interesting stuff and I hope it spreads, I drink some soda, I know I shouldn't but I wouldn't mind it being banned all over the campus down here.

Pop is not a nessesity of life.

Exacltly, and it is overused and terribly unhealthy.

Perfect reason to tax it differently than other groceries.

So a penny on a can of corn is hurting you??

Of course not, but here you are talking about an additional tax on groceries in general (unless you are singling out corn for some reason) and this tax would add up to several dollars each time you go to the store which would hurt those living paycheck to paycheck.

And lets add snack foods to that.

Really?? You would have to buy 100 cans to raise your bill $1.

I hadn't heard that one. It certainly sounds plausable though.

The same reason we subsidize corporate farms and oil companies. The add $$$ to the GOP coffers.

Most Farmers tend to lean to the Left, Democrat. Why do you always have to pick on the GOP?

That is BS and you know it. First, look at how the rual Midwest, where the majority of farms are located, always voted. Always red states. Second, again, the vast majority of farmers don't want the government on their business. Unless of course there is some type of disaster.

And I guess I pick on the GOP for the same reason you pick on the lobs all time.
