Anyone have any good suggestions ? I know.. Pink.. buut, she want's her own, so thats fine.

She likes my TFO Pro's.. I thought about their casting for recovery rod, but it's not exactly pink. I'd like to stick with 5wt, I have 2-3 reels I can use on it for her.

Is the Montana Trout Slayer rod any good? I can't seem to find much on it.

I also found the Elkhorn.. slightly more than I wanted to spend.. but.. if the reviews are good it's a possibility.

If any of the vendors on the board have something available or instock, feel free to msg or email me through the board as well.

I just bought this one for my wife at Bass Pro: http://www.basspro.com/White-River-Fly-Shop-Dogwood-Canyon-Special-Edition-Fly-Fishing-Outfit/product/10216850/

She picked it out. I was gonna try to talk her into something else, but then it occurred to me that "She Picked It." I decided that I don't care what she fishes with as long as she wants to fish with me. :)

Exactly. She likes fly fishing better vs sitting on a bank with a line and bobber because of the activity. My first rod was probably the same thing, but not pink. It was pretty decent. I'll give this a consideration. Seems like a good value.

But is it flexible enough to stay on fiberglass?

This Ross youth rod is a good little 4 wt. and is a glorious pink. A 4 wt. is a little light for bigger water, but I did manage my biggest trout ever on my son's (blue) Journey, on the NFOW. It's a good rod that I'm sure your wife could be proud of.

I've used automotive clear on a rod before and it worked just fine. All modern automotive finishes are fairly flexible. But i don't think it's going to be very cost effective. The cost of automotive coatings is insane. It wouldn't matter if you did it yourself or had a shop do it, it would probably still be more expensive than just buying a rod that is already pink.

Found a TFO Casting for Recovery hiding on the shelf at Rainbow fly shop here in KC, even marked down to $125. She'll be happy with purple. Gotta support the local guys.. :)
