I've got a bunch of both the 110's and the STX's. I have had far more issues with hooks, bills and tails breaking on the 110's, and I've caught more and bigger fish on the STX's. I'll keep the 110's as backups, but they are not my primary jerkbaits anymore on lakes in this area.

Pro Blue is great. Midnight Peral Blue and Herring Bone Chart are good STX colors. In the 110's, the various Shad ones work as does the Pro Blue 2.

There are too many colors to choose from and not enough time to fish them all. Pro blue seems to be the more popular color everwhere I read. Although the RC STX and 110 are very similar visually, there are a few differences that I have noticed on both. The 110 suspends with it's nose downward while the stx is all over the place. This is what sets the 110 apart from other jerkbaits, the way it suspends. The stx split ring are horrible, you will lose fish if you don't change them out. If you choose to get some stx, make sure the bb can move freely, had one that would stick to the back of the lure when tilted.

True, some of the first STX's had weak split rings. But they've long since addressed that. Make sure to get rid of the hooks on the 110's. They look cool, but break easily. Babler recommends Daiichi Death Trap trebles on jerk baits, and they work great on the STX's and 110's.

The STX's also suspend much better out of the box. Much, much better. The 110's need a lot of weight to get them to do the same.

I can't adequately express how strongly I would suggest two of the original Spro McSticks over one Megabass — one in Blue Bandit and the other in Ghost Table Rock Shad. These baits were hand-designed by Mike McClelland, who cut his teeth on Ozarks lakes and is one of the best stick bait anglers ever.

If you must go with Megabass — and I own a fair number of them myself — I suppose the can't-do-without color is Pro Blue.

Champ. Do you have to modify those McSticks very much or are they good out of the box? Do you use floro or mono? I have heard both sides if that arguement. I use floro. Just curious what other anglers are using? Has any one been catching em on a jerkbait with any regularity yet? I wonder if wiggle wart bite is gonna get any better or just stay the way it is and skip it. Last year they were pummeling the wart. This year they are not as agressive it seems.

I like 8lb suffix elite on my jerkbait rod.

Floro is too brittle and tends to break easier.

I like the old mark menendez rattling rogues in table rock shad.

I can take any purple back rogue and paint a thin yellow line on each side, then clearcoat with purple flake.

that will catch as many fish as the high dollar baits.

Unless the wind is howling,

thats where the expensive baits shine due to their weight transfer system.

Thumbs,

I don't usually do a thing to those Spro jerkbaits. Mike says you can hang an extra split ring on the front hook hanger if you want to achieve a very slow sink or if you happen to get one that wants to rise slightly, but other than that they are good to go. I throw mine on 10-pound flurocarbon although I will probably experiment some this year with 8-pound. I haven't thrown one a bunch this season because frankly I get really weary of fishing that way by the end of winter. No need to prolong it on the front end in my book.

Not sure about the wart bite. It's pretty much on from what I hear at Table Rock. Not sure about Beaver. Now that Donna and I have the new boat, gonna be spending a lot more time on the water. Hope to have better info in the near future. :)
