So, the state record Brook Trout was caught in Lake of the Ozarks...?

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

Yep. And actually that one was bested by Cricket last year in the same body of water. (Myself and one other witness were there) and he released her in good shape.

Beautiful fish.....but just an escapee from Troutdale so to list it as a record is a tad lame IMO.

I see your point. On the flip side, it wasn't caught in a trout pond.

I guess I am kinda on the fence on something like this. On one side, trout are not from here, so should any record count?

But then, it is a record and was not caught in a captive, protected park. It did have to survive on its own and probably grew some.

Can't say what I would have done. Both choices are commendable.

Well I guess that I missed the subject about FC catching the brook trout. I would say congrats Fc. As for a record, I would have to disagree, when the state allows state records to come from private ponds not open for public fishing. I would consider FC's fish to be a new record caught in fair chase. If I recall corectly, the previous brook trout came from a private stream north of columbia. A belated congrats to the Fishin Cricket, and we would like to hear from you again.

Weird, but I was just thinking about that the other day. Where's he at Wrench?

Back in the seventies and eighties, i fished the lower creek at troutdale during the winter months. Where the creek emptied into loz was a hotspot during winter time. Back then it was just about all rainbows with a few goldens thrown in. The goldens very rarely left the santuary of the upper creek. Each winter a few rainbows would migrate through the lake and be caught at various crappie docks. Our dock is located at the 5mm on the big niangua, and the neighbor caught four one winter. That would be at least 40 lake miles from troutdale.

I'd bet that any trout caught on your end of the lake came from HHT, but ya never know.

5mm ? OMG! You mean the 36 :) Good area, Barnes is a bass factory. As close as we are its stupid that we have yet to fish together. You don't like me, do ya? :) LMAO!
