Justin Spencer Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I'm with you Ness, I like Tebow, might not be that good but at least we'd have the Lord on our side, that may be our only hope. Flysmallie Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Tebow is not a bad guy and a hell of a player, but he isn't an NFL quarterback. I would pass on Smith as well.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 The only positive I see with Tebow is that with a bandaged line he can scramble well and that always takes a little pressure off the line. The QB class this year isn't all that bad, IMO, but all of them have that nagging panic syndrome and that is magnified in the pros. Landry is as accurate as any and has the arm strength, but he has to fight the panic button. I do believe he's the best pick because if a team can cure his tendency to panic early in the season they will have a winner. They can get the #1, Joeckel who just happens to be and OL. It won't surprise me if they don't go that route. They have to draft a QB though to please the fans, even if there aren't any surefire successful ones. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ness Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Tebow is not a bad guy and a hell of a player, but he isn't an NFL quarterback. Yeah, that's always been the rub. But all he ever did was win games with the donkeys -- and yes, it wasn't like a textbook NFL QB. He's one of those guys that needs to be on the field somewhere with somebody. John
exiledguide Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I think we're stuck with our owner. I agree ness, I lived through Bill Bidwell's years with the Big Dead Cardinals in St Louis but I had enough sense to dump my season tickets after the 1967 season.
Flysmallie Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 He's one of those guys that needs to be on the field somewhere with somebody. Can't argue with that. And maybe he can be a good quarterback if someone with the right team would give him a chance. I don't think that KC is that team though. The Chiefs receivers can't catch a perfectly thrown ball, how in the world would they catch Tim's. But he needs to go somewhere, he got a raw deal in NY.
Quillback Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 I think if you're going with the run and gun QB model, I'd take Vick over Tebow. Big question is what kind of $$$ Vick will be looking for. I could see Tebow as a backup, and use him as a Wildcat option. I don't know if these guys could help KC win any more games, but maybe next year they can get a franchise QB. Thye could also see who is around in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, maybe get lucky with a late pick QB. Let Vick or whoever start, ease the new QB in. Whatever happens, they have to get a plan in place to get a franchise type QB, you have to have that QB in today's NFL. I'd look at Matt Flynn also, currently on Seattle's bench behind Wilson.
Justin Spencer Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Vick and Tebow would get some buzz going in KC, might sell a few tickets and give us something to be excited (and later disappointed) about. Got to wonder about Flynn when they paid him all that money and then gave the nod to a rookie, albiet a good one. He could be another Cassel, already getting big money and never really proven anything. Wayne SW/MO Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 There will probably be a good starting QB, maybe more, come out of this class, the question is who? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Chief Grey Bear Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 BTW Chief -- Shottenheimer resigned, wasn't fired. Not many wanted him to go, me included, but he got caught in an extramarital affair that sorta drug him down. Your right he did leave on his own. The extra curricular activities that were alleged to have happened were just that, alleged. I think his demise was a team that always choked when it came to the game that took you closer to the big dance. But now they just choke at every game.
