Champ188 Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Jigs, jerkbaits and jigging spoons were used by the winning team. And crankbaits and spinnerbaits have been reported by some of the other top finishers. I wouldn't put much stock in anything that's said or posted publicly as to how those fish were caught. Frakes has been fishing and winning tournaments a long time. He's smart enough not to put much info out there for public consumption.
Sore Thumbs Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Caught ours with Spinnerbait, crankbait and a jig Champ. Wiggle wart got one bite for us. Our biggest came on spinner early. I cuaght 2 that were both around 2.5-3lbs right when the sleet started with a jerkbait. Didnt get a hit on it after that. Jig was the main bite getter. We lost a few thoughout the day and had several good bites that wouldnt hook up. Wish we could have seen what we missed. Might have made a little more money. Less than a pound seperated 3rd thru 6th. I have no problem sharing info. I want everyone to catch em. Specific colors, spots and techniques i will keep to myself though:-)
Feathers and Fins Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I shared this with someone before the tourny, Cranks or Keitechs and Montne. the bass have been sitting in there on the flats in 15fow but i bet they moved to maybe 22 with this weather. anyone fish the area? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

I appreciate the sentiment, but if anyones going out in the next few days I would give it a try. I have on very good authority many reports of guys doing very well on a jig and a jerkbait this past week. A wiggle wart, A-rig, spoon and drop shot have also been producing well. Good luck!! J-Doc Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 My bud caught about 10.5lbs by himself. His partner backed out on him (wasn't I) and he could have easily been in the money with another 3lbs. If he had a partner that could have pulled his weight, he could have potentially been in the top 6. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. You need to tell him to be on here and let people know, I have filled in for lost partners and sure there are a lot of people here that would have. Last polar bear I fished was 17 degree launch and I only put 2lbs in the live well but I have worked on my dragging since then and that is what I needed to fish being that angler who was used to two people up front and I just can't fish like that, I need a whole deck not to hurt someone. It's hard to fish with a new person sometimes but then again that is how you find that perfect match also.
J-Doc Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Stump....You're right. He's on here but just not enough (jolicious). I had to text him the other day to let him know a member had sent him a PM! LOL! Joe fishes a lot of tournaments on Beaver and he's never short of a partner. I would have fished with him this round but I didn't have the funds to play with. That, and I typically throw money into someone elses pocket in a tournament anyway. :-) Once I get my boat back, I'm going to fish some for the fun of it and for the experience. Mainly for the fun of it. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks.
