JohnP Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Didn't we just talk about that the other day DD about one of the reason I don't hunt the Como as much as I used to . Been a problem for sometime well before DC, just some people have no respect or ethics. Buddy and I were just talking about that yesterday with theses DC wanabes thinking just because they watch the show, buy all their gear, grow some facial hair, that all of sudden their duck hunters. Will admit that I do watch the show and find it entertaining but it is just that entertaining.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 John I have had more people run through my spread, set up within 100 yards, actually stop in front of my spread to ask how i was doing and if it was a good spot this year than in 30 years. NO concept of respect or how to duck hunt. Face paint and Beards galore with more Camo this and that than I own including my wifes gear. I had one guy actually tell me at the ramp early goose season no way I knew what I was doing you have to wear camo and be hidden and have 2 to 4 dozen decoys out to kill birds because thats what they do on TV and the Magazines say. He told me this as my brother and I were pulling in and he saw the guns on the deck and my brothers Lab. I just had to chuckle, he told us how they only saw a couple birds and how shy they were and it would be a tough year for guys like us untill we learned how to "properly hunt" I know my brother was wanting me to open the center compartment and start flipping the geese out so bad he could barely contain himself. I just looked at the guys talking their game and said "well maybe we do need to watch tv more and read a little more" and then went up to the top of the parking lot to clean the boats trash out and take a picture. GUESS WE NEED TO READ A FEW MORE BOOKS AND WATCH TV MORE LMFAO I think Ive worn Camo one time this year that was because I had to wear waders and they are camoed lol. Most days Im dressed just like the picture above. I think its only going to get worse as that shows popularity increases and more want to be just like them. Kinda like after the movie {River runs through it} came out and how many people wanted ot be a fly fishermen https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
JohnP Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 that's awsome FnF, always said the best camo would be a any color metal flake bass boat.
duckydoty Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 John, We did talk about it. I could not believe these guys. They were nice enough as we were picking up and did not shoot our direction like the guys in Bull Creek did on opening weekend, but it was a sheer lack of respect for other hunters for sure. They had a blind built up across the cove, but we were there first. I guess we should have just set up in their blind but I had more respect for another hunter than that. I've been talking to a few people about what we have to do in this area to get some kind of a refuge or something to attract ducks in this area. The fields below power site would be a perfect area for this. Just a couple of levys and some food planted for the ducks would make all the difference in the world for us. There are no refuges to speak of in this part of the state and if we just gave the ducks a reason to stick around, I think it would help the hunting out quite a bit. Right now if we get new birds, they might sit on one of the lakes for a day or two, then they are outta here. I dont know what we can do about all these duck commandos running around, but I wish they would get a clue A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Feathers and Fins Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 John thats not even my favorite picture, I have one with me in my jeans and a Blue Columbia shirt and a couple limits of geese and teal. I went out yesterday and put a limit of geese and 4 redlegs down wearing my Blue Rain Suit, Probably would have limited faster but a nice 4lb smallie latched onto my Keitech as I was drifting toward the geese and caused me a little delay. BTW he was only in 3fow and spit up a ton of shad. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
