Wayne SW/MO Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I agree F&F, there is a clear bias to this, but I think it stems from the idea that no one intentionally hits another car while being a drunk driver. Unfortunately in most of those cases the drunk is relaxed enough to come out in a lot better shape than anyone in the other car, but still the mindset is that he didn't intentionally do this, because it's a clear risk to his own life if nothing else. Someone shooting a gun during the course of a crime, won't have people seeing things that way. Replace drunk with mentally ill and you have the cases that hit all the headlines. Drunks don't kill a lot of people, criminals don't and suicide doesn't. The fault in the acts that triggered this thread is mental illness and that is the ONLY thing that will cause a repeat with help under the 2nd amendment. It's too bad that people aren't demanding that it be addressed rather than gun ownership which was nothing more than accessible. Assault weapons are only more convenient and it's ridiculous to think that even if they were confiscated it would halt future attacks. They can't even guarantee that that the numbers of casualties would decline, look at McVeigh and the intent of the Columbine pair. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 SB 124 Creates the crimes of failing to stop illegal firearm possession, negligent storage of a firearm, and failure to notify a school of firearm ownership Sponsor: Chappelle-Nadal LR Number: 0769S.01I Fiscal Note not available Committee: General Laws Last Action: 1/24/2013 - Second Read and Referred S General Laws Committee Journal Page: S131 Title: Calendar Position: Effective Date: August 28, 2013 Full Bill Text | All Actions | Amendments/CCRs/CCSs | Available Summaries | Senate Home Page | List of 2013 Senate Bills Current Bill Summary SB 124 - This act creates the offense of failing to stop illegal firearm possession. A person commits the offense if he or she is the parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18, he or she knows the child possesses a firearm in violation of the law, and he or she fails to stop the possession or report it to law enforcement. The offense is a Class A misdemeanor unless death or injury results from the firearm possession in which case it is a Class D felony. This act also creates the offense of negligent storage of a firearm. A parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18 commits the offense by recklessly storing or leaving a firearm in a manner that is likely to result in the child accessing the firearm if the child obtains access to the firearm and unlawfully carries it to school, kills or injures another person with it, or commits a crime with it. A firearm that is in a secure location or locked is not considered to be recklessly stored or left in a manner likely to result in the child accessing the firearm. The offense is a Class A misdemeanor unless the child kills or injures another person in which case it is a Class D felony. The parent or guardian of a child injured or killed by a firearm may only be prosecuted for negligent storage of a firearm if he or she was grossly negligent. This act requires a parent or guardian to notify a school district, or the governing body of a private or charter school, that he or she owns a firearm within 30 days of enrolling the child in school or becoming the owner of a firearm. The written notification only needs to include the names of the parent and any child attending the school and the fact that the parent owns a firearm. A person only needs to send one written notification if he or she has multiple children attending the school or becomes the owner of additional firearms. Any time a new child is enrolled in a school the parent or guardian must send an updated notification with the new child's name. Failure to notify the school under this act is an infraction, punishable by a fine of up to $100. If a person is found guilty of negligent storage of a firearm and has failed to notify the school of firearm ownership, the person must be fined $1,000 in addition to any other penalties authorized by law. So people worry about weapons how about invasion of privacy, Is it the schools business to know who does and does not own a gun? This stuff is getting out of control, they might not pass but really this is getting out of control. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nothing more than trying to create a perfect world out of imperfect raw materials. It never works as planned because you can't legislate morality or mental health.. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Smalliebigs Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I don't see any difference between alcohol and assault rifles and deaths where they are involved. We don't "need" either of them, but we take completely different approaches to misuse. With alcohol it's the person, with assault weapons it's the weapon, makes no sense since either one can set on a shelf for a hundred years and not harm anything. As far as marijuana is concerned, it's currently illegal in the US according to the government, and just like prohibition, it's making people rich while doing nothing to control it. Prohibit guns and they will end up in the same way. Bravo Wayne!!!!! couldn't agree more

Feathers and Fins Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Some of these "Bills" I see daily I just have to wonder if the politicians are even reading them before they enter them. Did they forget or dont remember 1994 and what happened. In 1994 at the time of the AWB Bill there was 258 Democrats 176 Republicans But in the next election 204 Democrats 230 Republicans https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jdmidwest Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 My cousin was killed last night by an out of control Toyota 4 Runner. If I was a Democrat right now, I would sell my 4 Runner as it has been deemed a killer. And I would lobby the Government to ban All 4 Runners as they are proven killers. But I am not. I know what the real killer was. It was the human behind the wheel. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
bigredbirdfan Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Quill, I dung you not. Here's 1 with M16 type. And here's one with AK type. And this is one of someone who most definitely shouldn't be allowed to own anything that requires an ounce of responsibility, much less an AK. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRog34CZTwo I don't know why the last link isn't embedded but paste it and check it out anyways, if you want some giggles/ or a feeling of despair. I wish I had all of that 5.56 and 5.45 ammo these fools just wasted. Plastic melts when hot I guess. That is an expensive way to prove what physics class in high school should have already taught folks.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Maybe this guy has it figured out? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
