Al Agnew Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Not saying Woolybuggers aren't good flies for smallmouth. It's just that I like my own streamers better, and find them easier to tie in the colors I want. As for skating a streamer in a tailout...yep, the faster you fish a surface or near surface lure in a tailout, the more fun it's going to be if the fish are there. The first time you see the wake of a big fish coming from fifteen feet away to catch up and smash it, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven.

Chief Grey Bear Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Come on Chief, you know you get man-wood for something... cars, boats, woodworking, something.... Oh you are right, I do get excited. There is a trip coming up this June that I am really pumped about and can't hardly wait for it to get here. But I don't think it moved.* *(now where are you guy's finding the emoticons? joeD Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Or, quit fly fishing for smallies. Good grief. Look at it this way: If you want to get laid on a regular basis, do X. If you don't want to get laid on a regular basis, do Y. Why do you insist on doing Y? That's the question.

Flysmallie Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I love fishing gear. Been doing that a long time. And will always love it. But there is something about catching any kind of fish on a flyrod. Is it the most productive way of catching a smallmouth? Oh hell no. But it sure is a lot of fun when it does happen. I know most people don't get it and that's fine. I don't get all upset with them. I do what makes me happy in fishing. Some people will take home any fat chick from the bar just to get what they need, and some of us dont mind going home alone a few times holding out for the supermodel.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
