Justin Spencer Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I sure like watching the videos as much as anything on the forum, I love seeing the different rivers even without fish. We'd all love to see a bunch of big fish in these vids, but unless you spend lots of time on the water, and have a cameraman most people will spend more time fishing than filming. Keep posting and I'll keep watching, plus it's a nice video diary of trips you have taken, when you are old and senile you can watch them again for the first time. I say we all make a video this week with rap music, going to and from work, draining the bathtub, and feeding the aquarim fish, that should give Joe something to enjoy, with plenty of fish. Nortrad Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I kind of like the formula, driving--it conveys the anticipation heading to the stream; music selection is personal--don't necessarily like some choices; always like the fish, especially showing the landing; don't mind the dusk shots of fishing either. I can do without the driving home shots though. It takes a lot of creativity to branch out to something different, we're not film makers.

Wait a second, why you got to throw rap into the mix? What did Snoop Dogg ever do to you. GIN and JUICE forever.
ness Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I think the videos are pretty fun to watch. I like seeing the locales about as much as I like seeing the fish. Heck, maybe even more. Don't really care to see a bunch of bare-chested good ol' boys dangling fish by the lip. It's not easy to come up with a completely original shot or angle. But that's only part of the deal anyway. There's learning the equipment, software, editing, etc. Part of the learning process is seeing someone else's work that you like and trying to recreate it. The more you do it, the better you get at it and eventually you move into creating your own. So keep plugging away at it fellers. John
Flysmallie Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Oh great, another unprovoked attack by Jodi. Hey Jodi, I have an idea for you. Why don't you try, just for once, to actually contribute something instead of just attacking everyone that you are jealous of. I think your problem is that you have a bit of a man crush on these guys and don't know how to handle your feelings. You should seek counseling or better yet just go away.
Flysmallie Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I wasn't going to announce it yet but, I am talks with Ronnie Moore Productions and we are developing a program to show case the Ozarks and its wonderful fishing opportunities. Lets do it.

I just figured Joe might not like it, last thing I want to do is dis Death Row, you better aks somebody! Bird Watcher Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Will you guys quit trying to make a "movie," no, a "FILM" for Pete's sake? Good grief. Trust me, I love and respect what you're doing. But, stop with the trying to be some auteur with the camera and your fishing trips. Your preciousness is offputting. You are all copying the same crappy flyfishing film blueprint that has most sane people bored to tears. 1. Highway traveling. Yes, got it. Two lane rural highways? Yawn. Jeez, if traveling isn't boring enough, why would we want to see it on film? 2. The sun. Yeah, it's there. Don't film it. (But what about the rays of the sun Joe? Beautiful. Unless they're piercing your drunken, crusted eyelids). 3. Music. Don't get me started. 4. Setting the tableau. GAWD. Yes, moving water is pretty. Oooh, look, moving water! (But Joe, we filmed at the waters LEVEL, check THAT out!) 5. Music. Next. 6. Fish. There are so gosh darn few of them being caught on any fishing video. 7. Repeating. FISH BEING CAUGHT IS AN AFTERTHOUGHT TO MOST OF THE "FILMS" WE SEE. 8. Sunset. Can't forget that. Especially when filmed through a golden haze of gently swaying long grass. 9. People. Couldn't identify with anyone. Not in the shot. They were too busy making a "film." 10. Music. Nevermind. I realize that what I'm writing is quite harsh. And that I have no knowledge of the inner soul of our fellow fishermen who are posting these videos. I mean no offense. My point is, instead of doing what HAS been done in fishing video, do what YOU want to do on film. And surely it can't be highways and sunsets. Just because a TV show does it, doesn't make it right. PS: Did I mention music? Would you mind posting up your credentials for being a film critic there Roger Ebert? Lighten up Francis. People do this stuff for fun. I bet the people who made them don't take them near as serious as you are. Oh, and there's always the freedom of choice. If you don't like it, don't open it.
