abkeenan Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 How many refrigerators do you have for all these fish you have been catching the last month or so!
Josh Holt Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 I dont keep more then im suppose to in my freezer I had a fish fry for the family and I give some away to people who don't have fish and sometimes my buddies take them home with them. I know your only allowed 30 in your posession. If I had something to hide or was doing anything illeagle I wouldn't post it on here cause I also know that some members of this site are gamewardens so Its better to play by the rules then to get a ticket lol I know wardens use sites like this to bust people but im all leagal so I just post a pics and give a report so maybe other people can have a chance to get on the water and maybe use my info to catch them some crappie.
Jerry Rapp Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 just a dumb question, if you have a legal possesion limit in your freezer, is it legal to give away to others? If it was me, the others would get the freezed ones. LOL!
Members Crappie Fisherman Posted February 16, 2013 Members Posted February 16, 2013 Was there brush around where you were fishing?
Iclass Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Pretty sure in Arkansas freezer fish are not counted toward possession limit.... Only applies when you're camping etc. Not sure MO laws
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 16, 2013 Root Admin Posted February 16, 2013 That's a real good question... giving fish away. Also marking your fish/bags correctly. Another question - is the possession limit 30? The STATE crappie daily limit is 30. Possession is twice your daily limit. The code, at least on MDC sites is not clear about possession unless it's a simple as mud... 60 is the possession limit for crappie, period, regardless where you catch them. I'm on Taneycomo where there is no length limit and the daily limit is 30. But I caught my limit on Table Rock. I have 30 crappie in my freezer (minus 9 I grilled tonight). What if I wanted to go out on Taneycomo and catch more crappie (which is very possible because they have been catching them in front of the Landing). Can I keep more crappie and be legal. The way I read the code I can. I for one never want to get sideways with MDC enforcement... I want to be and stay legal. Some of these questions are good ones and should be understood clearly by conscience anglers like ourselves. http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations

I wasn't calling you out if that is the way you took it. Was just saying that you are really clobbering them and good job. Crappie and Walleye are the two best tasting fish if you ask me. But my unintended comment does bring up a good question. We put a lot of crappie in the freezer throughout the spring and also catfish. What are you allowed to have? I thought the limit was 15 per person per day?? The whole "possession" throws me off a little bit. Does it count frozen fish ? Like Phil said I want to stay legal and don't want there to be any question in my legal taking of fish.
Dutch Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Maybe this will help with the confusion. http://mdc.mo.gov/blogs/fresh-afield/limiting-confusion
Tightline Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Nice mess,Josh did you learn to crappie fish and learn how and where to find them all on your own or did your dad and relatives help alot ??
