inshore Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 anyone know where to find the sinkers they use on the orginal jika rig.
97procraft Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I looked earler this year with no luck. I don't think it is popular enough yet. I just made some up with long drop shot weights and bell sinkers. I want to try them out first.
moguy1973 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I'd just use bell weights or open up the end of a drop shot weight with some pliers. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Sore Thumbs Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Just found some on ownerhooks.com . $6.50 for lead. $9.50 for tungsten. 2 per pkg.
Quillback Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Just found some on ownerhooks.com . $6.50 for lead. $9.50 for tungsten. 2 per pkg. Wow! Just a touch overpriced IMO.
Iclass Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Think I saw some rigs at hook line and sinker in Rogers. Don't know the cost
Tfsh4bass Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I just used Bass Pro premium bass casting sinker which is basically a bell with flat bottom...you get 10 for $3.29. I probably don't have $12 invested and made up 10 a few weeks ago. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Premium-Bass-Casting-Sinkers/product/16668/
kjackson Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I'd take a look at Lindy's No- Snagg if it light enough. Use the 3/8 ounce but color the lower portion to get a neutral sinker. That sinker will walk through just about anything.
Members Topwater TRL Posted February 19, 2013 Members Posted February 19, 2013 Here's a nice article on Stacey King using the jika and pictures of various ways to make your own. http://www.in-fisherman.com/2012/10/08/stacey-the-jika-rig-king/ Topwater TRL
dtrs5kprs Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Here's a nice article on Stacey King using the jika and pictures of various ways to make your own. http://www.in-fisherman.com/2012/10/08/stacey-the-jika-rig-king/ That is the real deal. Ned also has another article covering use of the jika in October. The "St. Louis angler" in the article is OAF's very own trailblazing ABKeenan. Looks ridiculous but it works. That increasingly seems to be the case with new rigs and baits. Some of them simply lack any elegance.
