Ham Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Back in the day, my 12 volt TM would be slowing down late in the day regardless of battery age. I've never run batteries down with a 24 volt system UNTIL the batteries where starting to fail. If you can tolerate the weight issues of carrying two batteries, I would go 24 volt. Official disclaimer : all my 24 volt TM have been the kind that had modulating technology to extend battery life. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members Deerhunter2 Posted March 11, 2013 Author Members Posted March 11, 2013 Thank you. That is the type of opinions I was hoping for. My boat is a 1984 Skeeter SF-150 with a 1985 Evinrude 150 XP. The boat itself is 16.75' long, 86" beam, 1040 lbs dry weight. Old rig, but looks and runs like new. I usually never use to trolling motor more than about 3 hours at a time and was thinking of using the 12 volt one with more thrust than keep up with two batteries for the lower thrust 24 volt motor.
fishinwrench Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 a 1985 Evinrude 150 XP. Sweet! I Love those 90° crossflows. The brute of all V6 outboards.
