ness Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Nice report and nice fish, Ollie. That rainbow's a chunk! My tummy tells me the browns are generally caught downstream and the rainbows upstream. Can anybody shed any light on that theory? John
sean c Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My tummy tells me the browns are generally caught downstream and the rainbows upstream. Can anybody shed any light on that theory? Browns are stocked in the lower section of river my guess is the numbers are higher down there but they spread out and can be caught anywhere in the trout water. There are some bruisers in the upper section.
Justin Spencer Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 As far as fish numbers go I seem to either catch rainbows or browns on any given day, you just hope you are upstream if the rainbows are biting and down if the browns are on. My rule of thumb is go upstream on a sunny day, downstream on cloudy. ollie Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Both of those in the pics where caught on a slow curve on the river in deeper water. Kinda what I expected really for a bigger fish. That Saturday was kind of different. Blue bell skies in the morning then it got partly cloudy in the afternoon and cooler I might add. Still wish my other friend would have caught one. Can anybody shed any light on that theory? More browns on the lower section....because they are stocked down there. If you catch a brown in the upper section it is usually a solid, solid fish. I think they average around 18" in the upper section with fish as big as 28" (or at least that is the biggest I have put my hands on--there is one that is scary huge hanging around the upper that I know is bigger than 28") My Youtube Channel
