Ive been reading about all of these cuts and it makes me wonder what is more important Kids/Teachers or illegal immigrants.

The Homeland Security Department released from its jails more than 2,000 illegal immigrants facing deportation in recent weeks due to looming budget cuts and planned to release 3,000 more during March.

White House spokesman Jay Carney on Wednesday said the government had released "a few hundred" of the roughly 30,000 illegal immigrants held in federal detention pending deportation proceedings. Carney said the immigrants released were"low-risk,noncriminal detainees," and the decision was made by career ICE officials.

I guess being here illegally is not a crime.

As of last week, the agency held an average daily population of 30,733 in its jails. The internal budget documents reviewed by the AP show the Obama administration had intended to reduce those figures to 25,748 by March 31

The immigrants who were released still eventually face deportation and are required to appear for upcoming court hearings. But they are no longer confined in immigration jails, where advocacy experts say they cost about $164 per day per person. Immigrants who are granted supervised release — with conditions that can include mandatory check-ins, home visits and GPS devices — cost the government from 30 cents to $14 a day, according to the National Immigration Forum, a group that advocates on behalf of immigrants.

Thats it,put a bracelet around their ankle like banded geese. They are here illegally!!!WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE AT WE DONT NEED TO TRACK-EM.

30,733 immigrants @ $164 a day =$5,040,212 a day.30 days = $151,206,360

Some 70,000 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten Head Start would be cut from the program and 14,000 teachers would lose their jobs. For students with special needs, the cuts would eliminate some 7,200 teachers and aides. The Education Department is also warning that the cuts will impact up to 29 million student loan borrowers and that some lenders may have to lay off staff or even close. Some of the 15 million college students who receive grants or work-study assignments at some 6,000 colleges would also see changes.

You give me $150,000,000 and i will get them all back over the border or on a Sevylor raft headed back to where they came from. Then next month 14,000 teachers would still have a job and the kids would stay in school.

The fact is,once that bracelet goes on their ankle and they are released they are here legally and 14,000 teachers will still be out of jobs and guess who will be teaching your kids.

I think some cuts would not be necessary if they would eliminate one problem and shuffle all that money to a cause that is more important.

What you're seeing is the administration officials punish us for this sequestration. Instead of running their departments on a leaner budget, they choose to layoff teachers and release illegals, these folks don't serve us, they serve themselves.

We all know that the government is a joke, they'll do what they're told by the one's that line there pockets. They are puppets and they will bring this country to it's knees and by how easily they are bought. We are pawns in their game. Fishing and hunting is the only thing that helps me get my mind away from the doom that we are facing..Don't matter who gets voted in, it's all set up too. We only get to vote for who is "pushed" on to the tickets. Lobbyist pick a puppet, dump millions to get them on a ticket, teach them how to say what "the people " want to hear, and BAM! just like that another joker joins the ranks of thugs that take and do what they want with OUR constitution. It's a hopeless system that will come to an end. Unfortunately, this is our time. The best of the truely free days are behind us.

I'm with Al, vote out all incumbents. I think both parties like the sequestration because each side gets some cuts that they wanted and neither side takes full blame, it is sad this is how our govt now has to work.

The media is just as bad as the government. So much of the reporting on "THE SEQUESTER" is "steep steep" cuts, "dramatic" reductions, etc etc.

Case in point: My hometown newspaper ran a story about the school superintendent complaining about the $93,000 in cuts supposedly affecting the district. The superintendent makes some rather pointed political comments IMO. But the reporter does not bother or care to report that the district has a $35 million budget and $93K is something like TWO-TENTHS OF ONE PERCENT of the entire budget. Not to mention the $5 million or so the district already has in reserve.

Are you kidding me? The reporter and superintendent thus collude on a "sky is falling" story with just a bare minimum relation to reality.

This is repeated ad inf in communities all over the nation.

Must. see. clearly!

Yeah the media has completely lost it over the sequester impacts. No questioning whatsover about the bogus info they are being fed by government officials. LOcal TV station ran a story about nationwide impacts that could result in teacher layoffs, they had a national map that was color coded by state showing which states could be most impacted. The TV anchor then said (with a straight face) that the map was provided by the White House. Gee it must be true, it came from the White House. Hard to know if the TV anchor is that naive or if she had a polictical agenda.

And the very next story was about John Kerry giving money away to Syria. Of the Sheeple, for the Sheeple.
