I am not thrilled on a crowded day for sure but if you time it right you can always find some good water that's not to crowded. I have been going to Bennet since I was 12 and will be 66 this month so I guess it is more tradition than anything. My family had many camping trips to Bennett and Roaring River and they will always be a slice of paradise in my book.

For a 3 hour drive I love to be able to try out some new flys I just tied and just get away. On the drive down form Kansas City when I dip down into the valley by Sands Springs resort

I'm suddenly 12 again with all the anticipation of catching a lunker that day. Sounds corney but that's the way it feels. Long live the Trout Parks!

I'm a little late to the party, but some people like to go because it is the best chance to catch one of the older, larger fish that are not producing anymore, and MDC releases during the winter. I agree with RC guy, you can almost always find some empty water, but it may not be the best. You can also wait for the morning and evening rush and fish when everyone is eating.

Jerry you nailed it. Coming down that hill always gives me the "home stretch" feeling as well. Nothing like that feeling. Then rolling across the bridge to get you first look at the river, nothing like it. Brings back a ton of memory's.

Speaking of crowds, hopefully the handicapped access will not be too crowded later this summer. I managed to bust my "arz" on some ice at work and got some new hardware added to my right leg, as well as making my foot point the wrong direction. Doc says I can't put any weight on it for another 12 weeks. Then it's going to be rehab city. So I probably won't be out there following you guys around in the high bank hole for a while!! Ouch!!

The rule is anyone can fish the jetty, but they have to give to anyone handicapped. This was always the rule and I doubt it has changed. That doesn't however mean some yahoo won't comply.

Wayne, your spot on right. My dad fishes the first ramp for hours everyday the week after Memorial Day weekend. I try to stick around and help because his hands shake so bad he gets a lot of tangles. I've found that most people are good about asking for access when needed and leaving when required. I've only found one guy who was rude about the whole thing being "his" ramp.

It seems to me to be similar to the difference between firearms deer season and bow season:

Firearms Deer Season involves a little hunting, a little card playing, a little washer playing and a little beer drinking with guys you don't get to see often enough.

Bow Season is hunting and solitude.

We can enjoy both, you know.
