duckydoty Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Jeff Duclos from the STL area landed this big boy today. 28.5 inches long with a 20 inch girth. Caught, measured, photographed and released. He was using a size 12 grey scud on 5x tippet. His largest rainbow ever landed and he has fished in Alaska on the Naknek River. Again, our beautiful Lake Taneycomo produces a catch of a lifetime! Congratulations Jeff! A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Brian K. Shaffer Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Gorgeous fish..... wow... nice job! and here I was just gonna post about how the river looks kinda dead from looking above and not fishing the water itself - I have been walking the river the last 2 weeks .. but the re-bar, or below the rebar hole is obviously always going to be good... -8 lbs ? edit - on a second look - I know right where that fish laid up.... but still - good on ya Jeff (hey Jeff, if you read this, give me ring.. we need to talk again) Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
laker67 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hi Brian. Talked to Jeff about 3:00 yesterday. He told me the fish was 28.5 x 20. If I did the math right, that's 14.25. Don't know if it is the same fish that Eric caught, or the "so called" 12lb male. Either way, a very nice fish indeed. Just so happens that today if Jeff's birthday, and this is the largest rainbow he has caught. So happy BD Jeff Duclos. Known Jeff for 2o plus years. Him and I get together to night fish a few times each season. A great fisherman and works hard at it.
Bill Babler Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Was he sight fishing that particular fish or was he just working a stretch of water? http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
laker67 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 By sight, most all of those fish on the upper end are caught that way. The big exception would be night time, but it is not always in the blind as most would think.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 10, 2013 Root Admin Posted March 10, 2013 Had a catch and release certificate request mailed to us for a 29.5 inch rainbow caught on March 5 by an angler from Hollister. Caught on a scud.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Someone needs to tag these big fish https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
