abkeenan Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Nice report and pic of the crawdad. Here is one of my custom paints I had done.....can you say match the hatch?
Members Fishman1227 Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 Craws make great bait for bass fishing! Thanks for the report! Fishing was OK, caught a dozen bass, mostly LM's and I think I remember maybe 3 spots. Got them all dragging a tube on rocky flats, or in small rocky pockets. Caught one bass that had this craw in his mouth, picture is a bit blurry, but you crawologists can get a sense of the color, green, with black borders on the shell and some orange on the ends of the legs. He was about 2.5" long. HPIM0535.JPG Here's a pic of a pocket that I caught 5 bass out of, boat was sitting in 10 FOW and the area where the bass were, in the back of the pocket, but not all the way back, was about 4-5 feet deep and rocky. No standing timber in the water at all. HPIM0539.JPG Big bass of the day, 3.5 lbs. HPIM0538.JPG I did not throw the A-rig, I just don't like to fish it, I have no problem with other people fishing it, but it's just not something I enjoy doing.

Champ188 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I should say, too, that I appreciate the reports, Quill. Always plenty of information to help me get a grip on what's going on ... or not going on. By the way, I couldn't recognize that pocket on a bet and like Bill, that fish is probably a little too big for me to be acquainted with. That one is more Donna's size.

Excellent painter, indeed
Quillback Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Well guys I have to brag, Got this fat gal today over here at Lake Windsor in Bella Vista, just under 7 lbs. I bet she weighs 4 after she spawns. On a custom painted Norman Flake Megabass. Caught another one at 4.25, was trying to lip one that was around 5 that got off, and had another one that looked to be 5 or 6 get off about 10 feet from the boat. Had another half dozen or so chunky fish in the 2 lb. range. Right place at the right time, they were chasing shad and being stupid. I like stupid bass
