Quillback Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 looking at the forecast, it looks to be in the 50's Wed - Friday and warming into the 60's over the weekend. Very fishable in my opinion. I'm not predicting hot fishing, but you've got a shot at some large bass this time year. I'd bring the boat and do some fishing, sounds like you can fish multiple days which is a help this time of year as it may take some fishing to find them, but it's been my experience the last few weeks that once you find them, there will be multiple fish in the area. I'd also bring some tubes and grubs.
Quillback Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Ozark lakes are awesome in cold weather. Bring warm layers to wear, listen to the advice here, fish slow as far as retrieve goes, but move around quite a bit until you find some fish. You have a good chance at some big fish. Don't expect the numbers of a little later in the spring, but by all means get a line in the water! Me and Mixer must have been typing at the same time, lol, but it appears great minds think alike
Members BoilerMAKER Posted March 25, 2013 Author Members Posted March 25, 2013 I agree with you guys, I know it won't be like warm weather but I will regret it if I leave the boat at home. Thanks! A bad day fishing beats a good day working!
dtrs5kprs Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Table Rock is one of the best nasty weather lakes anywhere. LOZ / Grand are probably better in super bitter cold, but TR fish love weather coming through. Wind, wet, awesome.
buckcreekmike Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 You would be kicking yourself if you didn't take the boat. I doubt the outdoor pools will be open at big cedar, and there is only so much shopping you can do.
Members BoilerMAKER Posted March 26, 2013 Author Members Posted March 26, 2013 It may be a rain-gear required cool trip, but I agree! A bad day fishing beats a good day working!
Members Golf Pro Posted March 26, 2013 Members Posted March 26, 2013 Bring the rig and catch some giants! Throw the wart and catch numbers. The dam will give some fish up to you.
Champ188 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The dam area is tough right now. So tough that the best guides are struggling down there. He'd be better off in one of the river arms throwing a jerk bait or A-rig. The wart bite has not started yet because the water temp remains in the mid-40s and even below that in some areas.

I'm far from one of the best guides, but I threw that wart the other day in the dam area till I melted the bill and got a big ZERO. Only reason I stayed with it so long is because I got the time. Probably would fish the Alabama Rig in the dam area if it were me. Not one on every point but I would hit the major pockets tops and bluffends leading into those pockets. Don't overlook any cedar tops you see in those locations and on secondary points in the big coves across from the dam. This is a timing bite and what is not there one minute can be there the next. It is really just a matter of days till they turn on down here, from Cow to Long Creek, and when they do the Brown Bass will be the deal. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
