dtrs5kprs Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The dam area is tough right now. So tough that the best guides are struggling down there. He'd be better off in one of the river arms throwing a jerk bait or A-rig. The wart bite has not started yet because the water temp remains in the mid-40s and even below that in some areas. +1 on the rivers being the easiest to fish if you are not used to the lake. Especially the Kings. Hard not to find a few up there.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 It is really just a matter of days till they turn on down here, from Cow to Long Creek, and when they do the Brown Bass will be the deal. Good Luck Stop the teasing. Pouring tube and grub heads as we speak. Getting hard to wait, although the snow made it easier.
Members BoilerMAKER Posted March 27, 2013 Author Members Posted March 27, 2013 OK you guys all ROCK! I am really looking forward to it! I have a slip at Big Cedar and plan to drop her in sometime Thursday. If you are on the lake look for a blue and silver Winner Tournament with IN registration and a blue / silver Evinrude. Could not find a good pic of her wet... ">http:// Thanks again! A bad day fishing beats a good day working!
Bill Babler Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Never saw an Indiana guy with a Blue boat. What are you thinkin? http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
abkeenan Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Must be on the Indiana/Kentucky border and root for UK? I will be down a week from this Friday for the weekend running around the dam area as well.

edyer Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I'm far from one of the best guides, but I threw that wart the other day in the dam area till I melted the bill and got a big ZERO. Only reason I stayed with it so long is because I got the time. Probably would fish the Alabama Rig in the dam area if it were me. Not one on every point but I would hit the major pockets tops and bluffends leading into those pockets. Don't overlook any cedar tops you see in those locations and on secondary points in the big coves across from the dam. This is a timing bite and what is not there one minute can be there the next. It is really just a matter of days till they turn on down here, from Cow to Long Creek, and when they do the Brown Bass will be the deal. Good Luck Bill, I'm coming down next week Thursday and will be in the Aunt's Creek area. Sounds like next week is going to remain cold. Any suggestions to try up that way?

Members BoilerMAKER Posted March 29, 2013 Author Members Posted March 29, 2013 Boat is wet, line got wet today but did not get enough time on the water... Tomorrow should be better! Did not get much past the 86 bridge. Threw a couple jerks, a wiggle wart and my trusty Kelley's striped to not even a bump. Fishing blind with no electronic guidance sucks... Next investment for sure! A bad day fishing beats a good day working!

If you don't have working graphs I would look hard at bluff ends and main lake points. At least you can see those and they will get you in the right kinds of places.
