Started big last year, but after messing with it am now using 1/8oz heads. From an eakins type mold poured without weedguards. Can thread bodies on like a grub, or TX rig like a shakey head for wood. Also using some HP clip hooks for straight TX rigging the bodies like a little dipper.

I use 1/8 and 1/4 depending on how deep I want to fish them.

How deep do you typically fish an A-rig on T-Rock. I would guess something to the effect of positioning the boat in 30 feet of water and throwing toward the point or bank. Am I on or off with that statement? I've fished them down south but the lakes were much more shallow and we were fishing Florida strain bass.

Unless you are fishing deep docks, deep tree tops, or something like wood on a channel swing. Boat might be deeper then.

What kind of fishing line does everyone use for the A Rig? I have heard just about everything but don't have much experience with this lure. Do you just cast out and reel back in...fast or slow? Thanks for any help. What A-Rig do you recommend?

Let me try to hit all the questions that came up in this thread:

What size jig head? 1/8oz - 1/4oz depending on how deep I need it

What baits? Mostly swimbaits (swimming flukes, etc) but sometimes grubs

What line - 65lb braid

How to fish it? Depends on the fish. If the fish are suspended deeper on points I locate the submerged trees, position my boat just beyond the deepest tree and cast into the submerged trees. Then I count it down to the tops of the trees and slow roll it back. I've also had success throwing it right to the bank if they are up shallow on a windy point. Lastly, toss it around deep docks and play with depth of retrieve until you get bit and then duplicate.

Fish I'm catching on it are a bit deeper. I'm holding the boat in 60 to 90 ft. out off the major lake point, and bluffend channel swings fishing suspending staging fish that are right now suspended in the 25 to 35 ft. depth range.

Look for these fish and you can see them. Back out and fish it down to them.

Good Friend of Beck's. Troy Major is catching them down to 40's suspended in just about the same locations I am fishing. He has had a bunch 6 to 9 pounds out deep, on the Rig. Reading your electronics is more than a key right now. We all have a general idea where they are, but they move in the water column, not only in and out, but up and down as well. Those big archs your seeing setting off those bluffends are not sea gulls, get after them.

Good Luck
