Members Nimrod Nick Posted April 3, 2013 Members Posted April 3, 2013 I fished a jerkbait and had lots of bass follow it but not take it, they would turn off at the boat. what can I do to solve this problem.

I woud start by switching the cadence with the water temps on the rise the subtle twitches should turn into hard snaps and very short pauses. If that doesn't help change colors. It could be time to change the style of bait to if your throwing a rouge or a husky jerk switch to a x-rap or vision 110 as the water warms the more erratic the better most of the time.
Quillback Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I'd try a longer pause. Sometimes when it's cold it takes them a while to swim up to the bait. Sounds like you pulled it away from them before they got to it.

dtrs5kprs Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Way easier to fish one too fast than too slow. Sometimes a little bit of a tail on the rear hook will make them snap it also. Flashabou or feathers. Did you have decent wind on the places where they were following?

If it is slick enough to see them following, most times unless you see them come out of a cedar, it is pretty hard with the jerker.
