Feathers and Fins Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Yes Bill, Jose Wejebe is whom i speak of. great guy and I swear fish just bit his hook to come say hello. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Bird Watcher Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I'll never forget the episode where Jose had a client that hooked a big grouper on the edge of a coral reef. The grouper swam back in through the reef and they could see the fish in a blow hole about 50 yds. away. Jose stripped off to his underwear and jumped in the water with a knife in his teeth. Swam through the reef, put that grouper in a head lock and swam back through the arch in the coral to the boat with it. Incredible. Also loved to seem him standing on the bow of his boat throwing a 20' net while the 10' waves crashed into the shore in front of him. Yelling throttle directions back to his client he had driving the boat. He was the real deal. He could definitely 'walk the walk', so to speak.
Sprint21fter Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I've had the pleasure the last two years to fish the Bass Cat Owners tournament and attend the Bull Shoals tournament last year with my dad and personally got to meet IKE, K-Short, Billy McCaggren, Britt Myers. They are all very nice people and will swap stories with you like they have known you forever. They all are very competitive and we see their blowups that is what we see on the TV. I've seen both sides of Roland. If everything is going good he is fairly nice when it is bad it is bad.
Bill Babler Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 One of my favorites is he is hooking Mahi Mahi with 12 wt. flyrods and is handing them to his clients that don't even fly fish. He has 4 fish hooked up at once and his clients are bowed to the max fighting the fish off the stern of the Spanish Fly. He is going crazy and so are they. Don't think you see that everyday. I'll try to go back and watch every episode he did. Yes Bill, Jose Wejebe is whom i speak of. great guy and I swear fish just bit his hook to come say hello. It is kind of like one of our contributors here said about Charlie Campbell. Just being around him you soaked up some of his niceness. His untimely death is a real kick in the groan to the entire sport fishing world. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
J-Doc Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Are their DVDs available for his show? I feel I missed out on this guy. Sounds awesome. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Guest Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Espn put together a highlight film in honor of Jose. It's was unreal what he could do and how he positively affected his clients. It's sad to hear of his passing, as he seemed to separate himself as one the greatest fishing show hosts of all time. It's tragic deaths like his that remind us to hug our wives and spend quality time with our children. You never know when it's going to be your last
Feathers and Fins Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Doc even better than DVD http://www.spanishflytv.com/theater/bonefish-seasonal-habitat-changes/ You will really enjoy that. Not sure on Video's but betting there is some out there, and if not certainly in the works for a benefit I would bet for kids he was very big on kids and especially terminally ill kids. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
