Hojo Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Fished a tournament out of BS this weekend. We ran to the Diamond Cy area. Caught lots of fish. Most everything up shallow near the brush. Caught them on a wide variety of lures. Square bill. Shakey head. Carolina rig. Fluke. Spook. Weightless worm. Pretty much however you want to fish. Warmest water we found was 61. It has a really good color up there. I hope the Corp is going to run some water or that thing will be 20 ft high in a week. 17+ won it. Majority of the limits were in the 12lb range.

mixermarkb Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I'll be down tonight thru Wednesday, should be fun. Ham, I'll probably be in my burgandy and gray champion this time, if you see me out feel free and come over and say hello-
Ham Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Holy Smokes Mark, How many "big" boats do you have? I'm still trying to figue out what part of the lake I'm going to focus on. I may shoot you a PM for advice based on what you've found. It sounds like it's on though. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
mixermarkb Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I have 2 champions. A 99 and a 98, I keep the gold boat at theodosia but its having a starter issue. Had it replaced then it failed again, and it's not fixed yet. I'm towing the boat that I keep up here in St. Louis down to fish. I meant to sell the 99 after I fixed it up, but can't bring myself to do it, because the opti gets so much better mileage.
mixermarkb Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I'm hoping its on as well. I'm not sure if I'll fish up near theodosia, Oakland to Music Creek, or put in at Buck Creek and go up the lake from there- I'll have the wife with me, and she wants crappie and maybe a walleye, so I'm really not sure of my plans either.
Ham Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Have the wife throw an a rig with 3 inch swimbaits for walleye or an SR-5 or SR-7 which WILL catch a little bit of everything, but walleye and crappie should hit it more than the other stuff. I do think the I've caught more walleye in the Buck creek to Tucker Hollow areas, but I have caught some nice ones out of Oakland. Consider fishing after dark for Walleye. mixermarkb Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Cool, thanks for the shad rap tip, that sounds like something she can get into. My father in law had a really nice 24" walleye when I was down last week on a grub, but as far as really targeting the eyes I have no clue..
Ron Burgundy Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Hojo was that the Tyson tournament u fished? Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
