Mitch f Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Pretty sure this was a hybrid... 3/4 smallmouth, 1/4 Spot, or so.... what is your opinion? "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
MOsmallies Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Based on that picture it looks full smallie to me... maybe a little spot in it
Greasy B Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 That fish looked funny when i first seen it. I think the mouth is larger but with it hanging like that it's hard to tell. Most of the smallies we seen that day had very small mouths relative to the body, kind of like the fish you see up north, this one not so much. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
fishinwrench Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Yeah, my brother has a bigger mouth than I do too, but we both came from the same place
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 ll smallie to me. The hybrids I've caught have spot lines mixed with the smallie pattern. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
tjulianc Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Wow, that is a big bass. Did you get a length on it? Has a nice pre-spawn gut on it.
ozark trout fisher Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Looks like a smallie to me....Nice fish. I can't stand hybrids. If I'm fishing, say, on the Bourbeuse River, I know to keep spotted bass and release smallies....but I have no idea what to do with the hybrids. I just end up releasing them but I have no clue whether that's the right thing to do. Obviously irrelevant this time of year.
