Guest Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I tried the PJ's finesse jighead today. They have a 2/0 hook, I think. It looked much better than the arky hook. Maybe they will do the trick. I looked at jig making components today. #1 hook looks to be the smallest hook that I would feel comfortable using. 1/0 looks to be ideal, but Im a rookie and have no clue. The shaky head mold looks good, if you could replace the cork screw with a single wire guard. I like the mushroom too, but not the double ended collar. I would much prefer a wire hook keeper. So, if you could combine 3 different molds into a hybrid that would be the ticket.
Members dolph Posted June 4, 2013 Members Posted June 4, 2013 I would try the worm nose jig mold. I ordered one last week and works very well. You'll probably need to glue the bait on or wrap a wire keeper on hook to hold the bait.

Going to 1/0 really does not improve hook ups, but does make it hang up more often. Use a dremel and cut wheel to cut the guard slots. You can extend the slot for the screw lock if you want to use a wire keeper. Really does not work better than glue. Screw locks are close to useless. I would try the worm nose jig mold. Guest Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 TrophyFishR What line do you plan to throw them on? Some may disagree with me, but I like braid to floro. 10# suffix braid & 10# trilene 100% FC Alberto knot It gives me the confidence in fishing tight under docks and working lay down logs. Your fishing 15' or less, that's why I chose the braid. I don't set the hook, just reel down on them like a drop shot. Dtr5kprs will tell you FC and I'm sure he's got many many more years of experience with Ned rigs than me. So it's a personal choice, IMO
dtrs5kprs Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 I've got a box made up for Saturday!Looks a lot like my pre-rigs aside from hook size. Line...lighter is better. More bites. Just be nice to them. Nothing wrong with braid if you have a partner to run the TM while you tie leaderknots.

We're fishing at Bella vista so the wind isn't too bad. I had a 4hr trip last time and never had to retie the leader.
