moguy1973 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Fished the 6 miles from Harpers to HV today. Water was swift and still pretty cool, with water that was slightly stained in parts and others where it was crystal clear. Fishing was tough with the speed the water was flowing but we did catch quite a few smallmouth with a lot between 12-14". Nothing really big, but some had some huge bellies, so the spawn hasn't taken place yet. Only one 11" Kentucky. Most came on white/chart spinnerbait and others on tubes. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
moguy1973 Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Some pictures from yesterday: This super friendly dog saw us at our put-in at Harpers Slab and swam/ran/followed us for 3 miles of our float until he saw some other hikers/campers. Hope he made it back home ok because he was a pretty good dog. Our only big obstacle of the day. This was about 3/4mi into the float, but the guys from HV ran their jet boat up later in the day to cut it up so it wasn't laying across the creek. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
joeD Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 That dog has been there for years. Don't get sucked in. He doesn't love you. You are not special. You are just another customer. Sorry.
ColdWaterFshr Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Nice photos, especially that top one. Makes me want to jump in the car and go right now.
405z06 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Tha't funny about that dog. There are 2 dogs that must live right near Garrison's. The last 3 times (all last summer) that I floated from Garrison's, those same two dogs would come greet us and then follow us down the river. The first time they followed us all the way to "The Bluffs", an Ozark Outdoors put-in, which I would estimate is about 5 river miles. They would swim the deep holes sometimes. Other times they would run up the bank and meet us downstream.
