snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I think the rotund lady working the office took it. It was only me and a guy in a popup camper for the whole place. Coulda been a drive by. SIO3. I just noticed I can't spell. Kinda loses something when it doesn't make sense, especially in the title. It's the in-laws I tell ya. SIO3
Leonard Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Im working till 9pm... then Im headed to the water... I had to weigh the options.. 1. come home and spend time with the in-laws...NOT 2. come home and go to bed.. but then Id still hear the in-laws talking.. NOT 3. come home and watch Denver kick the crap out of the KC Chiefs.. maybe (even though I dont like Denver.. but I hate the Chiefs even more!!) NOT A FAN OF EITHER.... GO RAIDERS!! (even though they suck this year!!) 4. GO FISHING... thats what Im doing... anybody wants to join me... I should be there about 10:30pm... trying to talk my dad into coming out with me tonight... we maybe doing a little spin fishing... But hes a Chiefs fan.. so he may wait till the game is over unless it score is Denver 45/ Chiefs 3.. then he may come just so he doesnt have to watch the Chiefs lose another to Denver.. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 24, 2006 Root Admin Posted November 24, 2006 Ahhhh..... Leonard- Chiefs won.
Don Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Leonard, what songs were they playing? Trout didn't seem to care? Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Don Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I sowed at Lilley's about 9:30-10:00 and Phil led me to all of my supplies. Good to meet you Phil. Fished 10:30 until the horn blew about 4:00. Fishing was tough at first. There were alot more people there than I thought there would be. Two parking spaces above chute 2 when I arrived. I tried a variety of scuds and midges for awhile abov chute 2, to no avail. I tied on a black disco wooly bugger with a rabbit tail and picked up 2 14" bows. Stripping did not work, a caught them both on the drift in fast water. I broke off a 20 plus brown on my egg pattern right at the bad knot I tied. I went back to a variety of scuds and stripped an olive abd gray sculpin but no takers. At 1:30 I went back to my egg pattern. I started picking up fish at the end of the pool before the rebar riffles. I caught several then moved down to the end of the gauntlet because rebar was crowded. I then picked up several more thare and picked up even more at the top side of the big hole. Went back in the shallows and picked up several more above the rebar riffles. The bows are starting to show their winter colors. The pattern I used was chesse colored egg fu yarn. Looks alot like light chartreuse color to me. Most takers struck after the fly settled on the botton for a few seconds. I used a no 6 lead shot about 18"" above the fly. Finished with 16 fish total. Several 14" were the biggest. Took three 10 inchers home to fry up. It took me 45 minutes to get from the dam to Silver Dollar City turnoff when I went home to Republic. I did not care at all because I was thankful that it was a beautiful day and I had the opportunity for a great day at Taney. Happy Thanksgiving..... Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Murdoc Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Snagged, It was one of the best days EVER!!! I brought my best friend from Columbia MO that is starting to fly fish and he caught some fish. The browns were running and hungry. The temp was great the wind was light. I caught and released beautiful trout to fight another day. I don't know how it could have been better!! The sicker in my window was sent to me by a very good man. Phil Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
Guest flyfishBDS Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Similar circumstances Tuesday afternoon, teaching my g/f eldest son how to fly fish. He'd already caught a nice 18" bow on scud but were were all struggling a little during the afternoon but found some risers. Size 16 Para Adams got his first, and a he missed a few, more lots of fun. I had the floatant _ but I did leave the one thing almost as important my Frog's Fanny great stuff for drying out your flies after they have been eaten. Cheers Steve
